Morning all. Woke up to a pleasant drizzle of rain. Slept in about 2.5 hours. Love the first day off.

I’d appreciate a good rain right about now.

I’m just sitting at my desk waiting to see what today has in store.

 

First day back after being in Chicago and trying to get caught up after 5 hours of sleep. NEED MORE CAFFEINE!!

 

Nope can’t like that.

 

Today is Friday for me. I took on an entire second team about 4 months ago, and it's been a blistering pace for all that time. It trippled my headcount, and added a largely new set of processes and functions for me to manage. I've had wonderful weekends since then, but I get some needed extra down time this weekend. It'll be good food, whiskey, and cigars with a small group of friends; with maybe some fishing thrown in; away from everyone and everything that might need me to do work (other than cook). I'm sure I'll be on the forum until later this afternoon, but I hope y'all have as good a weekend as me.

 

I don’t think I will seek it out but if the opportunity comes up for work I would go back. The part of town that we were in seemed safe. I obviously kept my head on a swivel but no worse than some of the close by bigger towns in the northwest. I’m sure there are bad parts, but as long as you don’t seek them out and know where they are, it seemed just fine.

I kinda giggle everytime I see the peeps on TW complain about fuel economy. They have no idea.

 

Yeah I don’t own a car that gets more than 14 mpg.

 

I’m actually shocked that my 15 year old truck gets better mpg than the wife’s suv.

 

What does she drive.. H1 Hummer? Suburban with a 454?

 

2012 Nissan Armada. 9 in town running errands. 12.5 to 13 on road trips. But it’s paid off so hard to make a switch right now.

 

I had a 3/4 ton GMC Suburban with the 454. Got great gas mileage when being towed around the countryside but otherwise sucked gas like it was coming out of a 6 inch hose.

 

All the power you needed though!

Sure does! It’s a great rig other than the gas milage. We are saving up for a 4R for when the kiddos get out of the bulky car seats. I know the mpg won’t be much better in that around town but should do better on road trips and it’s got the whole Toyota thing going for it.

 

I remember those days. I had an extended cab when my son was born. Figured we could put his baby seat in the middle and have it fit nicely between the two front seats. Nope. Those things are wide AF and only get worse when they get their first forward facing car seat.

 

Yep, same here. I went from a '97 ext. cab Silverado to a crew cab Ram.
