I've 'snorted' liquor a couple of times; but it wasn't intentional and usually involved some barrel strength $hit and some hiccups!

 

That sounds like some 6 years ago shit…..

Crazy man, I was a mischievous young teenager in '95.

I just realized you probably don't remember the pre 9/11 times much.

 

That's memorable for sure.
I was working some shit factory assembly line job, saw the second plane hit just before I left for work.

 

I’d drive one

my wife would probably love it - not much bigger than her Forester and way more capability

 

Not partying; just attending school ....

I was a very mischievous college freshman in Milwaukee in ‘95

 

1978. Never again after that.

 

I was in the middle of a pistol qual on my 2nd day of SWAT school; we were immediately pulled off the range and headed back into the valley as someone had intel that Vegas was potentially a target as well.

RIP to everyone killed on that day, and my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by it and countless subsequent events.

I'm glad there are folks here that remember; because there are plenty that seem to have forgotten.

As sad and as tragic as that day was, I miss what it felt like living here in the US immediately after that incident. It really brought our entire nation closer together; and all the little daily BS that plagues our lives and creates discord among us was pushed aside at least for a short period of time.

Even better…got a bump and still have the same job. Basically my job description now uses words like “strategic” and “recognized expert” and other pretty PowerPoint words.

The generation that saw the moon landing always talks about “where they were” when it happened. 9/11 was another generation’s moon landing.

I was actually working at a company that licensed photography for commercial use, including News. We had just rolled out a new software system for the News group that allowed us to process images (this was very VERY early in the digital photography era) in minutes instead of hours. I was the only system SME in the company and one of two people with full God permissions.

Wife woke me up after the first hit. I figure it was an accident and rolled back over. Then the second airplane it and I was out the door and hauling ass into work. The next few days was a blur supporting our NYC office.

And I too remember how everyone became nice again for a few months. Polite in the store and on the road. You could buy an American flag decal anywhere…something I’d been trying to find for months and could never find.

Crazy to think back on it actually…

 

I remember walking into the office. Someone had pulled a TV cart into the front conference room and the smoke coming out of the first building was playing. While I was standing there (still had my laptop bag and lunch box in my hand), the live footage showed the second plane hit.
I dropped my stuff, walked over to the receptionist desk and called my wife (who was at home with our 3-1/2 month old baby) and told her to turn on the news.

I remember flying just three weeks after that for work. It was an eery feeling.

 

Yeah, there was a period there when no one knew what was next. I remember talk about how it would be impossible to defend the Seattle waterfront from a boat given all the marine traffic. Either a small pleasure craft or a single container on huge cargo ship. Kind of funny to think about it now, but everything was thrown into turmoil.

The wife and I had a trip to Cabo booked at the end of Sept. Before we left I took my hardware over to a buddy’s house and we made plans where to meet up if chit went south.
