I take great pictures at work but when we're on trips, my wife is the photographer.

I used to be into B&W in high school and really liked it, had dreams to make my own darkroom. I just never do it anymore. And I always make fun of my old lady(she has a nice Dslr) because she brings like 12 different cameras, but never uses them. Or she freaks out when she can’t find the 12 that are strewn across the house in different drop zones.

Yes I always have to remind myself how fortunate I am and to be thankful. Sometimes I get frustrated with where I live or just start feeling down in general (mainly during winter) but then I remember I'm surrounded by paradise. Like the most recent adventure is a 3-hour round trip for me. Many people have to take vacation and get hotels and rent cars. I just drive up have a blast and come back home.

So are these day trips? Or do you camp out too?
We too have similar but different(same same) beauties within that time frame. We have a small but beautiful mountain top lake just 45 minutes from the desert floor. We also have a mountain top lake( I think the second highest lake in AZ) 3 hours away, almost 2 hours of that is doing 30 or below up the 32mile climb, so it kinda keeps the riff raf away. I can’t wait to go back next month; I’ve been there enough times to experience all the weather that it has to offer, and I think the end of June should be perfection! Riggs Flat Lake, look it up if your curious

Me too. I loved my photography class in high school. My wife has “the eye” and handles all the good stuff. Thankfully she had just one DLSR and normally just uses her phone. I always buy her the model with the best camera since that is still cheaper than another dedicated camera.

. You are young and have the ability to do those things… so do it. Heck, sleep in the back of your car! That’s how the OG’s did it before Overlanding was “Overlanding”. No fancy tent or gear. Just a sleeping bag and a tote with an old Coleman stove and some soup. Your car is actually perfect for that kind of thing.

I’m looking forward to doing more of that kind of thing when I’m retired. I’ll be dragging a trailer because I’m too old to sleep on the ground with a rock up my azz or chit in a hole.

99% of them are just day trips. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of camping. The only times I camp are when something is too far away but even then I usually aim for a hotel if possible. That's awesome that you know where I'm coming from having beauty close by. I love going to some of the same places different times of the year and seeing all the changes.

My brother in law does that when he goes mountain biking because he doesn't want to spring for a hostel.

So northern AZ is a photographers dream in fall, soooooooo many cool colors from all the leaves changing. We’ve been in Sedona twice during the fall change and it’s insane!!!!
This one tree we took a pic next to in October, looks like a bland boring tree on our last trip…..A3363773-9F9F-47B5-AB2B-9527B531CB53.jpgWe didn’t even stop this time for pics; basic!!!

I’ve got a co-worker that drives no more than 40 miles in a day and rents cars for road trips so he doesn’t put the miles on his car. I’ve been trying to convince him a EV would be perfect for years. It wasn’t until he got a Kia EV a few months ago for an airport rental that the light turned on. Sometimes you just need to say “sit down, shut up and hold on”

Yep. Kia, and others don’t have the proven reliability (yet) or charging networks that Tesla has…so not optimal for long road trips

Little level for the Cummins, mainly excited for upgraded steering components and not having so much rake

Track bar and steering stabilizer, luckily I don't have any issues on mine "yet" but Ram's are known for poorer quality steering components.

Hell yeah, looks like the perfect lighting, I’d say 20-40 minutes before the golden hour.
I mentioned a trail run to the local 4runner cats, I bet they will be down, I know it’s lake season but maybe we can get a group together. Maybe a one nighter and a few trails
