Nature is metal. I can’t wait to challenge my son to feats of strength. He turns 6 in a week, so I’m guessing I should get training.

Yeah, I have no doubts some are truly confused and I can't imagine having those struggles.
Unfortunately I think a lot are in it for the attention, from parents or peers.
It's such a bizarre way of addressing someone though, it goes against proper grammar and the automatic way to greet someone.

LOL. I have to live here because it’s where my applicable experience applies!

I had to look that up…a 5:30 am Wiki session hurts the head.

I cannot handle “they”. You are one entity. Pick a singular descriptor. He, she, duck, bear… I don’t give a shit, pick one and I’ll do my best to honor it.

And since we are playing in this sandbox, let’s not forget it goes both ways. I don’t need to announce my pronouns just because you do. And I shouldn’t be discriminated against because I don’t proclaim them. This is a form of hate that’s acceptable right now and is growing around here.

I think the idea of everyone declaring their pronouns makes it less awkward for those who don't go by the traditional pronouns and actually do need/want to declare it. When you're the only one doing that, I could see it being uncomfortable.

Preach tolerance and have none. That's the norm of certain types.

Moving on, I am hoping for a quiet Saturday where nothing breaks at work.

60-ish boxes packed so far. I think we’re close to being done with boxes, and the movers said to just leave the dressers full and they’ll wrap and move them as-is. Can’t wait to be in the new place.

Just been thinking a lot as today is relatively slow in the office. Just gonna share something my brain decided to run through today. Enjoy. :p

I'm sure all of you are familiar with TFL, right? Well, you know how they don't get press cars from Subaru anymore, because they scuffed one up and were kinda down on it in a review? That hasn't stopped them from reviewing various Subies, but they have to buy them or borrow them from somebody to do it. Well, that's not the greatest thing for them, but it does solve one of the major issues with mainstream vehicle reviews. When you are beholden to the manufacturer, whether for access to cars or because they've flown you out and wined/dined you, there is always going to be a bit of doubt about the review. This snub by Subie opened the door for TFL to be blunt and honest about any Subie they ran. No need to preserve the feelings of the maker.

Now, I know they've recently been apologizing and buttering up Subaru to try and get back in the press vehicle pool, but they review so many vehicles and it's their bread and butter. They kind of need to be in at least slightly good standing with manufacturers to maintain their livelihoods. This is where the gears got to turning.

Look at some of the ridiculous lip service given to certain brands/models and the beatings that the Tundra/4Runner took? If a vehicle isn't just loaded to the gills with the latest fanciest tech (even if it's buggy, unreliable, or just straight bullshit), or refreshed in a major way then pro reviews are pretty uniform across the board. Hell, some don't even do reviews for vehicles that aren't getting major overhauls. Look at KBB and their Challenger RT review. They haven't touched that car since 2015, but there have been some touch ups and such. They only care about the big numbers on paper and the giant screens. Seriously, pick any new or refreshed vehicle, go look at Edmunds, Car and Driver, KBB, TFL, etc. and tell me they aren't all 90-95% similar in what they say. Sure, different words for the good or the bad, but the basic opinion is the same in almost all of them.

This begs the question: How valuable would the reviews from somebody who just did it as a side hustle/hobby be if they were buying their own vehicle? It could be completely honest, no need to hold back, and it could be for more than just the couple days or weeks that most pro reviewers have a vehicle. You could see the ups of the honeymoon phase with a vehicle, and the downs as little gremlins popped up. This would only work for a side hustle with sporadic reviews and videos for noteworthy developments or assessments, but I think it's a bit of a niche that is lacking.

I guess my overall point is this: @LarryDangerfield could start his own blog and youtube channel to showcase the vehicles he rotates through and maybe make a bit of a side hustle out of his love for buying new cars.
