Nope. Trailer and the RZR are staying. My minimum requirements for any vehicle to be my single rig are:

1. It has to be reliable.
2. It needs enough ground clearance to handle the windblown drifted snow. Seems that number is right about 8.5-9 inches at a minimum.
3. It must be 4x4 or AWD to deal with the snow, ice, dirt, and mud.
4. It has to be able to comfortable tow 3000-5000 pounds.
5. It will need to be able to have a RTT on it.

Now, if I am going to have 2 vehicles then I can be a little more flexible on the reliability, but the other needs have to be met at all times by at least 1 rig. As I am currently looking to not increase my debt, I am still looking at a single vehicle prospect. The research begins.

 

So what are some of the potential whores you're flirting with?

Forgot to actually answer this when I cracked the joke earlier.


Things for research are

1. 2022 Nissan Frontier. It is capable enough, looks good, gets as fuel economy as good as the 3rd gen Tundras without needing a turbo, and I think it could be done with a net decrease in debt. Worst case it would be completely lateral in debt, but reduce my monthly payment by almost half. Quicker payoff is always good.
2. Wrangler 4 door. I would prefer the 2 door for size and looks, but it can't tow enough. The pentastar V6 has been pretty reliable since 2014ish, wranglers hold value, and everybody likes a jeep.
3. Subaru would be on the list if they offered anything with a turbo, stick, and the tow capacity. I'm just not willing to do a CVT. Still might test drive one to see if it wins me over.
4. Ford Ranger. Depending on timing it might be the new model (sketchy) and there is much research before it can be considered. It's in the same ballpark for capability as the Frontier though.
5. Still searching for things that can check the boxes.

 

Hey, Matt @Black Wolf, you are in the new Frontier, right? Any insight, pros/cons, or options you wish you did or didn't get on it? I swear there's a thread on here for your truck, but I'm dense today.
