Special appointment is pretty loose for Todd. If he’s home, he’s usually good for stopping by. The bread is only baked Friday morning and is sold out be end of the afternoon though.

I’ve kicked around doing a mini-meet up there. He’s done a few Tesla ones

Oh. Oh God. I do have going to town boots. I think the laces are girthy enough to be okay though. And...if you look at the what do you look like thread on here, there may be a moustache involved. Hmmmm.

My nearest REI is two and a half hours away and if I'm being honest, the only reason I got a membership is for the 20% off coupon whenever that comes so I can buy a rooftop cargo box :D

That should be coming up soon - with the spring dividends in March/April (I’ve been a member since 1995 - way before it was trendy)

These cars need to be one hundred percent warmed up and at operating temp to get decent gas mileage. there are people on The forum who say they drive like there is an egg under the gas pedal and can barely get 17 miles per gallon. All they do are short trips and low speeds. People are slightly annoyed with the highway but it's especially the city that is bothersome. Also they are extremely sensitive to speed like many vehicles. The difference between 61mph and 71mph is like 3.5-4mpgs. sorry for the long roundabout way of answering your question, but the rates 26 mpg highway is doable at 61 mph, the city is pretty much unattainable and depending on conditions and exactly how much "city" driving you're doing it's more like 14 on low end and 19 on high end.

Appreciate the roundabout answer, the more the better for making a decision.

Any issues with the EyeSight features?Annoying?

Umm, it's been fantastic with one huge issue. I hate even telling people about this cuz I really do believe it's a wonderful car and don't want people to be scared away, but it would be deceitful not to share. It straight up tried to kill me one night. I was using the self-driving feature, or whatever Subaru calls it, and thankfully I had my hands above the wheel as recommended. Right at the same time a car was coming at me it snapped right at them. Thankfully I was strong enough and had a quick enough reaction time to avoid the head on collision. I literally yelled WHAT THE FUCK and haven't used it since then.

TLDR: the auto high beams are the best I've used, the auto cruise control is the best I've used and can even come to a stop and then start again, the blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert works amazing, but if one of the reasons you would be buying this car is for the self-driving then I would not recommend it as there is a small chance of death and or dismemberment.

That's wild man, glad you were alert for that incident. Do you have to turn that feature off every time you start up?
    Thanks for the transparency :fistbump:

No, thankfully it's default state is off. Like I said I don't like even telling people because it just sounds like a clickbait article. I haven't read about anyone else having that issue either so I don't know if it was a one in a billion fluke or other people just don't want to share like me. Like I said though, all other features are great. I especially like that the cruise is done via the cameras at the top of the windshield rather than through the emblem on the front like many vehicles because the windshield stays clear whereas the front of the vehicle easily gets covered by salt and snow. Also, it has a little spray nozzle for the backup camera which is absolutely amazing.

Hangover series is my favorite movie!

Tesla seems to have phantom braking issues on full FSD. I don’t have the FSD, because I’m not about to pay $12k lol

I know that’s one of the reasons I am here. The Mrs. gets tired of me talking about cars often. I frequently get the question of how much of your brain is consumed with cars and trucks?

100% serious; if my truck got totalled today and I needed a vehicle tomorrow then the Outback Wilderness would be high on my list.

@LarryDangerfield, you've been a great source of info on it, and I appreciate the honesty. I do have a question, though. Have you towed anything with it?

Any time! I have not. But from the videos I've seen it does a fairly decent job. Only two complaints I've seen is just the initial off the line is slightly sluggish and also close to max weight it needs trailer brakes.

Yeah, I agree. We watched a video last night where the Wilderness was keeping up with a TRD OR 4R on the same steep, muddy and off camber terrain. It was impressive

I like trailer brakes anyway. :D

The only thing I have reservations about is the one thing legitimately complained about here:
    https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a36441834/2022-subaru-outback-wilderness-drive/

It's the CVT. I don't want one in a car.

It's not a true vehicle bond intil there has been mud and blood.

PHM is short for Professional Hand Model. He was a well known 1GT owner who was banned for repeatedly doing the politics dance.
