I just don’t really see the point of testing unless it’s severe enough

I agree. The only reason I tested was a negative would let me go to work as normal.

    Thanks, Doc!

Just using sick pay. I've got 400+hours saved up. Just never use it.

Does ur guys state pay employees to be off with a positive result? Ours is 40 hours. When it first happened 2020 (?) it was 80. Just kills our workforce even more.

Not that I know of. That was only in effect when it was a federal thing.

We had it until 1-1-22, my employer is talking about bringing it back with this latest surge.

Had to wear a suit Monday and Tuesday. My shorts have never been so comfortable…

Also had to drive into the office. Before Covid I’d leave the house at 5:30am to avoid the traffic. Anytime after 6am was at high risk of extending my commute from 20-30 minutes to 60-90. Monday and Tuesday I hit the road after 7:30 and the traffic was minimal.

There is big corporate talk of keeping this remote schedule after Covid subsides and I really hope it holds true.

Prior to the plague we were WFH two days a week. I cleaned out my cube 6 months ago, and the facilities guy ripped the name plate off. So happy my 'cube' has my roof, my front door, my kitchen, my john, and my wife in it.

The home kitchen and bathroom are what I love the most (after not commuting). Our cafeteria made Mc D’s look gourmet and don’t get me started on the bathrooms…

I guess I'm the odd man out. I want work and home separate. I don't want to bring work home.

I'm under quarantine until Saturday night's shift and was asked if I could work from home. Kinda glad I have shitty internet that makes that nit an option. Plus, I don't have the monitors and that kind of setup to do my job. I have a crap ton of sick pay for this stuff.

I feel for my boss because we are a skeleton crew and we've had to cover lots of shifts in the last 3 weeks, but maybe this will make his bosses see we need more bodies.

Hope you are feeling better… how are you doing?

If I remember correctly, you covered a lot of holiday shifts for your peers. So time for them to step up.

    Lucky WFH peeps out there!
My employer paid 99% of employees to stay home during our last 2' snowstorm. Had to go in due to federal minimum manning requirements at our hydro plant.

At least they say I'm essential.

Same, and same. I get the kitchen - I'd rather the company spend the money on people's salaries. Shove the microwave and coffe machines in one corner, and the drink and snack machines in the other, and clap the dust off your hands. But even in a small office of (pre plague) ~120 people there are those jackwads that think it's funny to wipe boogers on the walls and pee on the floor (no, not under the urninal, in the fv(king corner). WFH is much, much better.

I'm doing pretty good. The fever had me freezing last night, but really this is just a mild cold. If we weren't in our current times I'd be taking OTC meds and going to work.

We've got a good group and they'll absolutely step up, but it just highlights that we need more personnel. What would happen if we had 2 people sick, or an illness while somebody is on vacation? We need more people so we aren't crippled by normal workplace occurrences.

Ugh. Slept entire flight yesterday on way home (pretty unusual for me)
Went to be around 830P last night (also unusual for me)
Small cough / some chills / dry throat today
Youngest friend just popped positive. Youngest has fever, slept all day, and was puking.
They want me back in WA tmrw at an emergency request. Going to do the rapid first thing as I don’t want to make everyone sick by going out there if I’m positive for it

Coming off of a "mild" case, I'd have to really hate someone to give it away on purpose. And yeah, I can see reckless disregard coming around to bite you.

That's why I'm home, too. Just because I'm ok enough to work doesn't mean I need to be getting other people sick. Good on you @T-Rex266 for being polite. I hope you and your family all get well soon.
