I worked myself to death for my previous employer, on call whenever they needed me, covered other shifts without notice, worked outside my department as needed, when we separated I was lead mechanic on days and the trainer. I wrote a 5 level training program for my department, think chiltons auto repair manual. Was the go to guy for rebuilds and special projects. In 1987 I was in a accident at the plant that due to faulty equipment I fell 29 feet and landed on concrete forever jacking up my back, hips and relocated my right hand backwards to my near my elbow.
Long story short I should have sued the hell out of them, but did not, they finally paid workers comp checks but that was a battle, yet I still gave them 100%

In the end after 23 years I was told I was useless, and not needed, as were all of the old timers left, and to start looing for other opportunities. The bean counters decided we were a liability not a asset due to our time in. While one by one the old timers like myself were fired, I left before they fired me, head held high and a middle finger to the plant manager.
I had nothing to show for those 23 years, hell I make more with HD than I did after 23 with solo cup.

I have....I had nerf bars on originally but these are what they put on to replace them even though they weren't damaged from what I could tell. I don't think sliders would have made any difference since it was an suv that hit me, so he was still high enough to miss my bars.... but sliders are on my list to purchase one of these days

2nd day of my new job, headed to pick the kiddo up from after school and was driving down one of the long TX turn lanes(because this state has the longest turn lanes ever), guy said he didn't see me(hello BIG red truck) and turned and gassed it into me to get into the turn lane.
