I literally had that in my head but didn't put it there lol. Yes, at dark hours ALL inferior lights.

If you're unsure if it's a real officer- call 911 to confirm. Lots of idiotic people out there with bad intentions.

The advice I got from a deputy sheriff in my hometown was to only say anything if it's on your person or if you're asked. His opinion was that a LEO may start wondering why you're disclosing it so freely, and it'll put them on edge right off the bat. He is a sheriff in a rural county though, so they pull people over with the assumption that everyone has a gun in the vehicle. If I'm ever pulled over while I have my CCP on my hip, I'll absolutely disclose it right when he comes up to the window though.

True. But real cops cars have like a million bright lights. If you only see one light, better keep driving to a safe place, LOL.

Lift arrived at the house today :bananadance: Wife confirmed it. She asks "Are you happy now?". I said "No. Not done". She says, "What else is missing?". I said "Install it. Doesn't do me any good in a box."

I disagree with him. Being open about it makes that officer, who conducted the t-stop know you aren't trying to hide anything. That officer doesn't want a surprise, and neither do you.

I've heard both from opinions from LEOs. Each LE is different. One Castle Rock LE told me that unless I can get to it or he can see if in a traffic stop, he doesn't need to know there is one in vehicle. Other LEs have told me that they would appreciate the courtesy. So I guess it's a LEO preference or what each individual finds as necessary.

That was the advice given by Law Enforcement when I took Driver's Ed back in the 70's. We were told to pull over to a safe place, get out of the car, and stand with our hands out of our pockets. Shortly after that, the advice was to pull over, turn on the interior light, don't reach into your pockets, keep your hand on the wheel, and give the officer your license when he asks for it. How we were supposed to get our licence out of a pocket with our hands on the wheel was never explained. On the rare occasions when I've been pulled over, I make sure the officer has room to stand beside the truck without being in traffic, get out my license and insurance, turn on the inside lights, roll down the windows, and keep it polite.

I was told that when they run your license the computer tells them you have CCW permit and to tell them even if you don't have the weapon just so when they approach you after running your info they aren't on alert bc you never mentioned it.

    Is that true?

Not any longer since 2010 IIRC. Dispatch can run and see it though

In CO u do not have to announce you have a weapon concealed or not. Common courtesy can go a long way though, imo.

Yeah definitely, curtesy is key. I always follow that list you mentioned if I'm pulled over (luckily it's been a few years)

I was just curious if that was true since I had easy access to your knowledge.

And dispatch cannot run someone unless it's related to said incident or requested by a sworn officer

On the few times I've been stopped (or my wife ..grrrr) I do this as well.
In CO passengers do not have to surrender their iD unless it meets criteria. I do it because I want them to know who they are speaking to and make them feel at ease. Again, courtesy.

I always let the LEO know. I've gotten out of so many tickets just by throwing the keys on the dash, hands at 10 and 2, and the first words out of my mouth informing the officer that I have a CCW and I'm carrying.

Although...I did have one incident where the LEO wasn't a fan of civilians carrying. He made me get out of the truck, hold the tailgate, stuck his knee in my back, disarmed me (and took my pocket knife) and told me to get back in the truck while he took my firearm and knife into his cruiser. 10 minutes later he put the pistol in the bed, handed me the mag and chambered round, and told me not to get out of the vehicle to retrieve until he was out of sight. In the end he only wrote me up for 5 over instead of 15, but the gentleman drove away with my damn knife.....

The whole thing was uncouth IMO. Especially since he didn't even have to turn his lights on. I saw him, knew I was speeding, and pulled right over. He literally had to drive 25 feet to get behind me.
In the end I called NHP and explained the situation. I got a call from local Sheriff the next day letting me know that my knife was dropped off at my local station. BS'd with the deputy for a bit about what happened and why a NHP officer dropped off a knife at their office and he just shook his head and said, and I quote, "Fucking Highway Patrol"

I believe that is going to come down. I started with almost 580 miles per tank when brand new. After a few months of driving and the computer adjusting to your driving, I'm down to 480 miles per gallon. Still pretty good, but not the same as when new :(

I still think the computer is out of whack. The math never makes sense IMO.
