Oregon is very similar. Portland has always been a bit strange when we visited in the past. It had a novelty to it. The last several years has turned it into a place I don't care to visit; many of the places I enjoyed visiting in Portland (resturants, etc.) are now gone due to this crap. Anyhow, the small area I live in has a lot of folks that lean heavily left (which is fine) and that's most of the senior part of our community (about 65-70% of it); we also have a portion that leans right (blue collar workers, fisherman, etc.) again don't really care cuz neither side of the fence is throwing it in your face on a daily basis, it's simply their beliefs and what they think would make the community better. I can respect all of that, especially when I'm allowed to do the same...

So, I'm guessing for you, much like it is here, as long as you stay out of the metro area and college communities, most of that crap won't affect you any worse than it would anywhere else in the country. Can't spend your life chasing or running from the current political tones...

Well said, we are doing just that.

The kicker is.. when that state chips away at the 1st, 2nd etc. amendments for so long, I can't support that state with my tax dollars.
