The above photo I posted was taken in the middle of a Grand Canyon trip back in 2012. I had shaved a male pattern baldness haircut into my head before I departed and did't do the "reveal" until a few days into the trip. Once revealed my buddy told me he wanted to keep shaving it as it grew out and said he would put an "arrow" in it for me so that I knew which way I was heading.

So not only am I a cynic

I make fun of balding people.

Which makes me a dickhead.

Some of that is semi addressed in those questions of the survey. It separates organizations and power from individuals, so I think it does a fairly good job at a surface level.

As for individuals... I disagree. I used to think as you do, that most people are decent. I acted accordingly. I got burned, healed, and trusted again.

Guess what, every time I've done that I keep getting burned. Not just by strangers either. By the people that you're supposed to be able to trust, yet I've been sold out, thrown under the bus, used, and abused when it was convenient or when the chips were down for them.

Individuals will all say the right things, but when it count; really really counts? Nah. Don't let anyone see the chinks in your armor. They're just holding onto it for when it will benefit them most.

Nice work on those drawings. High school drafting class is what set me up for my career. I owe a lot to that teacher and was actually able to thank him a few years ago.

The OG series concludes with them all being kids. The later one (Not sure if there are more than one additional series) are different characters a generation later.

 

Dude, that sounds miserable. I hope they get you some help and you get some rest soon. If you can stand it, take some vacation/sick time so you don't have to deal with more than is needed.

yeah I was never into anime, let alone tv shows in general.

 

It would have been a little after your time I think. I'm on the tail end of those who have seen it, but I did rewatch it a couple months ago and it was pretty fun. Definitely something I would watch with nieces and nephews, or my own kids if I ever had them.

 

Just so you get the reference, the premise is that there are different tribes/nations that can control or "bend" one of the elements of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.

This is the main character Aang (left) who is the last Airbender and Katara (right) who is a Water Bender.
