Ah. I think I've only heard a couple Rush songs. Not really for me.

Go sit in the corner and think about what you said. Such a shameful thing to say.

Yep, all by hand, drafting with technical pens.

2112 is a Rush album and I was into that band at the time… um, a little bit. :)

    Yep.

And one of their more obscure albums has a song called I think I’m Going Bald, I’m starting to wish I’d never heard that one.

I liked them a lot back then. They were new and innovative. Still are. But I like to keep moving with music. I’m not a new world man anymore. Creepy cynical middle aged man might be more accurate. And middle is stretching it.

I've been cynical for a long time. In that regard I'm a bitter, jaded, 60 year old.

As for how I feel for experience and capabilities, well I'm still a dumb 20 year old kid.

Yet more evidence that you are a strange one. I'm OK with strange though.

Maybe not shameful, but definitely out of the norm.

well, I thought about this. My thought being there needs to be a questionnaire for cynicism. Turns out there is. I only have moderate cynicism per the test. So I guess that’s not terrible, perhaps. I think this is something I need to work on.

We’ll see. The test makers probably have some sort of hidden agenda.

And the next line: "house has great bones", generally means, you're going to be gutting it and starting over.

I approached this as optimistically as possible. Even with me being kinder in my answers I was only one point off of being highly cynical.

Holy fucking shit. I'm slow this morning. I JUST caught this joke.

I just took it in stride and was thinking "of course they do. Why else would they put it out there? It's not to help, it's to get something."

I may be more cynical than I thought.

Honestly, it makes sense that Toyota/Tundra buyers would be cynics. Why else do you buy Toyota if not for a complete and utter lack of faith in other manufacturers products or their willingness/ability to stand behind those products?

Toyota succeeds because they are (usually) consistent. They very seldom have total let downs.

I guess my cynicism really depends on the topic. Large organizations like governments, corporations, politicians, celebrities I am highly cynical towards. The average person living their life just trying to get by, not as much.

Individual people are generally honest and good folks. Start putting them in groups where they are being led by others, then the train starts to come off the tracks...

Yeah, rereading some of those the phrasing matters. There's several questions that say "usually" and that definitely matters. I glossed over some of that and took many questions as more absolutes or as "always" rather than the usual that it was presented in.

Retaking it, reading more slowly, and really looking into how I genuinely feel without any sugarcoating..... I may actually need to work on my cynicism.

I wish I could agree with this.

In my experience, individual people are not much better than the big bad boogey men of organizations. Good ones are few and far between, and frequently they get shafted by the rest that the good erodes and they either withdraw or they become what broke them.
