My wife has been an on again off again vegan eater her whole life. At our reception she was eating vegan at the time. We served both vegan/vegetarian options as well as beef and shrimp options. I agree with a lot of the flank on the comments on the insta post. Nobody cares if you're vegan. And vegans shouldn't care if you're not.

 

Also wanted to say thanks for everyone's well wishes and advice. It's really appreciated.

but, I tend to be less tolerant than the next fella.
Life has taught me well.

see, in my experience...vegans always have to speak up.
Then, I ask them why they have incisors. conversation decays from that point.
Vegans and vegan diets are inherently flawed.
but, folks just want to be exceptional without effort.

if you're going to be vegan...go be it....just shut up.
Because any word out of you will be smacked down with logic and facts.


FTR - it was our 31st annv. yesterday
went to a nice steakhouse.
had a big ole aged NY strip (medium)
siracha Brussel sprouts
au gratin potatoes
mac and cheese
Corn Brulee...think cream corn with jalapeño bits...and brown sugar caramelized on top.

 

Same story with my wife, but it was up until she was pregnant with our daughter. Most women love peanut butter and pickles or something like that for their pregnancy cravings, but my wife demanded a big fat ribeye cooked medium rare. I almost shed a tear I was so proud. Anyways, that was more than three years ago and she hasn't gone back to her prior veganism

I was in the biz for 10yrs. Beer distributing controller.

in hindsight, I fundamentally did not like the core of the job...selling alcohol.
I'm glad I was the asshole I was & got fired.

it took about a month for the weight to lift. it was a damn toxic environment.

2 of the 10 VP's were recovering Alcoholics...and quit drinking.....but still sold it!


I know...advice is the worst vice, but here goes:

don't ever start drinking. Alcohol is nasty and mean. Teach your kids.

Funny story.... I work for a company who directly deals with distributors. That is all I will say for several reasons.

I constantly turn down night outs and free drinks. Its a perk of the job I intentionally avoid. It is weird to me seeing bars in bosses offices.

That said, there are two things we do as humans that I do not understand...

1) We know it is poison and we know it causes health complications. But yet we drink anyway? We encourage it in a variety of settings, most actually. Then, when we mature enough; we celebrate those who quit. Meanwhile, we drink.

2) We know dogs live 1/3 or less of our lives. We still get one. Then we get attached and have our best friend. Usually more than one. then we watch that dog grow and deteriorate. Eventually we put that dog down and then truly mourn the non human companion unlike any other one out there. Then what do we do? We get another one to do it again..

TLDR: same!

 

Yesterday was the first day on the new job and we had day 1 of orientation. Once again I had sexual harassment training but with the addition of everything else the California legislature has mandated on top of the Federal requirements...

I'm impressed with my ability to put up with mind numbing boredom these days. I would have completely gone comatose even 5 years ago having to do this stuff.
