My grandson and I went Sunday. One couple inside eating. 6 employees on hand to fry potatoes and build burgers. They prolly get close to $20 an hour. Hence the outrageous bill. No combos available and no coupons. IN-N-OUT would be half that for 2 double doubles, 2 fries, 2 Cokes. Besides, IN-N-OUT was established in 1948. Five Guys in 1986. IN-N-OUT had no freezers, fresh sourced beef, hand cut fries, in house made buns 38 years before Five Guys. Five Guys is good, but not twice as good as IN-N-OUT.

    5 guys is not good.

    the buns are dry.

and the only way to make the fries taste good is to ask for a little tub of the cajun seasoning.

In & Out fries are simple...not that great.

IN-N-OUT fries used to be great. They now use "healthier" sunflower oil. On the other hand, 5 Guys fries are quite oily. Very oily.

Properly cooked and salted is hard enough for 99% of restaurants.

    A double-fry is stupid.

    Steak fries are the worst.

Fresh cut with the skin on is simply the best

Have you been to Whataburger in your neck of the woods? I went to a Whataburger in Victoria, Texas years ago. It was OK. Not really a burger joint. To me, a burger joint is simply that. No chicken sandwich or breakfast burritos in sight. Just beef!

Negative for the exact reasons you listed. I hardly stray from the classic crowd pleaser of a Double-Double, it's just good every time! I did actually switch up my order to protein style about a year ago and haven't looked back.

What's that opinion/asshole formula? I have an opinion, therefore I'm an asshole?... Most fast food / chain burgers are shit. If you don't like the patty separate from all the other ingredients, and especially without some slathered-on sauce, do you really like the burger at all?

I know it's heresy me being a Texan, but while I might eat Whataburger if whatever crowd I'm with is eating it, I don't really like it that much. Give me a hole-in-the-wall that serves a fresh-ground burger juicy enough to warrant 5 or 6 full size paper towels, toasts their buns (better yet, toasts them in the burger grease), knows how to cook fries, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg for their effort. I know it's tough to find in some places, but most train stop towns in Texas have one.

I think 5 guys used to be good but they lost themselves, In-N-Out is overhyped, and I'm not going to name those other top-10 joints because why would I.

None of it is as good as a home cooked burger anyway.
