Please elaborate on veganism being terminal. I'm just not buying it.

It's not sustainable long term. It's also detrimental to children. Doctors are reporting lots of malnourished children in vegan households.

Agree with you to an extent. But as devils advocate, I'll say anecdotal evidence doesn't make it terminal. There are humans that definitely lived full lives as vegans. There are supplements you can take to overcome the minor vitamin and mineral deficiencies you may have if you are eating vegan. It's all about what you choose to fuel your body and being vegan doesn't make one terminal from their fuel choices. I could argue that being a carnivore is terminal. Still disagree.

Supplements are iffy. They can have 500% of (insert nutrient/vitamin/whatever) but if it's not easily biologically accessible then you don't actually get 500%, you get a fraction of it.

IMO you can't argue that obtaining nutrition from a natural source is the best way, and if you natural diet requires supplements, your diet is not sustainable.

Your article in the mirror post references stupid ass people. Being vegan wasn't their problem, intelligence was. Real vegans eat real food. Trendy attention thirst traps every where can glom unto any group and bring it down. You're smart enough to see through that bs.

    Ny post. I'm all set.

I don't discount them, but I don't fully trust them either. All media has a slant, but I've seen several things covered by them and ignored by "reputable" news sources, and it's been true and honest info. Just didn't fit the in vogue narratives. If a news outlet isn't willing to ruffle feathers they are useless.

The absolute most hardcore vegan I know has been dealing with health issues and ate fish for lunch the other day, blowing my mind.

Think the most “animals are our friends, and communism just hasn’t been done correctly yet” musician type you can imagine. This guy is that in reality. His entire personality is politics. Last person you would ever think to stop a 100% hardcore vegan diet.

When our work crew would go out for lunch, he used to order the impossible burger (made of soy, plant protein, and a bunch of chemicals I can’t pronounce), and he would ask that the spot they cook it on the grill be cleaned so no beef grease touches it. Hardcore vegan didn’t do him justice.

Last guy I ever thought would come around. It was his religion.

Whenever the subject comes up, I just ask vegans to show me their teeth. Then I say, “Huh. That’s weird. You have these, too,” and point to my own incisors.:notsure:

In defense of his request to have the grill cleaned, once a person has been vegetarian or vegan long enough, their body stops making the enzymes required to digest meat. My wife has been vegetarian for about 15 years and she'll be sick to her stomach if she eats something like soup made with beef broth. She doesn't go so far as to ask for the grill to be cleaned, though.

She and I both hate to send food back at a restaurant but sometimes she'll order an impossible burger at a restaurant and it will come with bacon on it ( ). Even the grease from the bacon can make her sick so it's not like she can just pick it off.

She actually doesn't like impossible burgers much. A few years back, after veganism rose in popularity but before impossible took over everything, you could get some pretty good house-made veggie burgers at different restaurants. They were much healthier and had real ingredients in them but the best part was they were all different. Now every restaurant has the exact same veggie burger.

Agreed. I had one that I thought was very good. A friend insisted that I try it. It wasn’t trying to fool anyone, and I liked the spices. Those don’t seem to exist anymore.

Soy makes my guts hurt so badly. I can't imagine eating it with any regularity. No wonder vegans are so obnoxious.

There's an additional danger with veganism if the diet isn't closely monitored. Most vegetation has nutrients and antinutrients - lectins, phytates, and tannins - that hinder the uptake and metabolism of vitamins. Probably how those kids in the previous post got malnourished. Beans are loaded with phytates, and lots of vegans use those as a primary protein source. Meat doesn't have antinutrients.

news sources are supposed to be muckraker's for sure. Don't get me wrong, I'm not not advocating for veganism nor am I one. Sometimes you just get ahead of yourself and claim ridiculous shit so that's why I am playing devils advocate on this one. If you truly want to understand how to fuel your body as a vegan you can read Medical Medium by Anthony Williams. It's no where near terminal if done right. The same idiots eating to many oil based burgers are similar to the overweight fried food southerner's who are driving America's unhealthy trends.
