Yeah, I won't fly my dog anywhere. I'm driving if a pupper is coming with. That, or I'm getting them trained as a service dog and buying them a seat.

 

understand.... but it's a bit different flying a working dog that just arrived in the US from Europe; spent a week spinning around in a kennel while waiting to be selected and transferred to vegas and is now covered in shit and piss and the only thing he/she knows is how to bite the shit out of things...

 

My friends literally did that so they can bring their dog everywhere with them.

 

Why is it snowing again? Luckily I missed the 18" we had on Tuesday because I was in the desert warming up and I got to come home to the mountains shrouded in storm clouds and snow falling.

 

Then I'd be driving to pick them up. For their sake.

 

I think I will do the same for my next dog. Well behaved and with me everywhere is ideal.

Not really. So long as a dog is well behaved I have no problem with people having them with them. If getting the dog trained and certified allows them to be with you and they don't cause a problem, who cares? What does that detract from a "true" service dog?

 

Because the loud minority threaten and abuse, and we have gotten so soft over the last couple decades that ass beatings will land you in prison for longer than grooming kids.

 

Now THAT is shitty. Because then it can easily be a problematic dog that some entitled shitwit brings in and causes problems. Those are the ones that will degrade what an actual service dog does.

 

Nothing against you, but it furthers the issue of the public petting and saying hi to service dogs.

A service (working) dog isn't a pet.

A close friend has a T1D service dog and they get people coming up all the time petting it, interrupting the dog working. I've taught my kids to appreciate the pups from a distance, and let them do their job.

 

I'm not for that. I don't think a kid should be hit with anything but an open hand, but some kids need a physical reprimand to have the knowledge of consequences sink in.

My comment was more directed that the busy bodies and karens can't be laid out anymore either. They don't mind their business because they have the illusion of safety. They forget that if they make it worth an assault charge, there is nothing keeping them from swallowing their teeth.

 

They did go through the full program so she could be a service dog if needed.

 

That's a problem with people, not the dogs though. If the dog has a vest on, which mine would, then you ask permission before any interaction. Period. Anyone not doing that is the problem, not the presence of the dog.

 

If you have a Service Dog with you and there are no signs at all about “Service Dogs” on the premises they legally are not supposed to ask for paperwork

 

Not true. The free range kind parenting BS started in our generation. I also think the whole limiting family sizes to 1 or two kids doesn't help. How do you teach an only child to share and have empathy? It's not easy and many parents fail at it.

 

I'd have the dog's papers at all times, but they can't ask what your need is for the dog.
