1/2 time? That's lame, should be full wage. That just gives employees incentive to use sick leave when they're not sick

 

Legally, they don't have to pay out any unused sick time. They also require a doctor to sign off on you coming back to work if you are out 3 consecutive work days. That dissuades it being used like vacation.

Yeah, it's a PITA system, but I'll take it over a shared bucket of PTO with less hours.

 

I love my PTO system. One bank, use it how you want with no questions asked. It's none of their damn business if I've got the flu or if I'm in Hawaii.

How many hours can you bank?

 

800, I get about 9 hours every check (2 weeks). They cash us out at the end of the year or we can choose to move it to an investment account.

 

Another cool benefit, you can choose to take your worked holiday pay as 12 hours PTO. For example I worked Christmas and New Years, got 33 hours of leave on one check.

 

That's pretty good. Most places I see that do the shared bucket don't have that many hours in them. Thus my preference for the split ones. Different animal with yours being union and all.

 

Yeah, that would make a difference if we could only keep a small bank.

 

I get 80hrs each year. At the end of the year, 50% of the remaining hrs go into a “bank” that can be tapped if you happen to exceed your annual allotment. The other 50% disappear.

When you retire/leave the company they cash out this reserve at about half your normal hourly rate. And there’s a cap on the total payout. Better than a poke in the eye, but…

 

It was a local microbrewery. Maybe we had the happy hour Wednesday price. So technically the bill should have been closer to $100…

 

Think I only had about ten of the Hall cough drops today. Practically going thru withdrawals.
