That's awesome! Good headphones can definitely enhance the music experience.

I’ve long used a set of those for traveling/flying. So nice to drown out everything around you.

Is the noise cancelling actually that good? I've never used any before. I have just gone for decent over the ear phones and they block out enough for me. I haven't tried it for traveling though.

Good active noise cancelling is an entirely different level.
Don’t try to use it for hearing protection, but for actually drowning out the drone/noise is awesome.

I remember the first time I tried a set (years ago - maybe the QC25?) - I actually got motion sick the first time because it threw off my equilibrium because I couldn’t hear what I was feeling/seeing. That’s not an issue with any of the newer ones I’ve used though.

Wow, that's kinda crazy. I don't even know if I have headphones anymore. I don't really use them, because I only do music in the car. I'm otherwise occupied if I'm not driving most of the time.

    I’ve got so many pairs…
over the ear QC 35 II’s for when I really want to drown everything out and don’t want anyone to bother me
airpod pro gen 2’s (also have active noise cancelling) when I’m looking for something lighter or not as warm as full OTE (or don’t mind people interrupting me)
Shokz Openrun pros (bone conducting) when I need to wear full rated ear protection, or when I need to have some level of hearing awareness

Shokz are awesome. I ran a pair of Trekz Air for 4 years daily in a welding shop and 2 years after that almost daily before they crapped out.

I have cheap pair of Soundcore Life P3 earbuds now that have noise cancelling. Not perfect but it does a good job of drowning out the office at work.

I wear Beats by Dre for the gym but want better noise canceling ones. I can’t use for the head ones, as I always manage to break them over time pretty quickly.

I need to you clarify this for me. Was that "over the head ones"? Just trying to be sure I understand.

It’s not going to be like sitting in a sound booth with a “reference-level” sound system. But once you get used to getting them situated right they are pretty respectable. Certainly good enough to enjoy while doing other things.

Here’s what I have now. I live by music (especially in the gym) so it’s always important it’s clean, powerful, and limits outside noises

I've had a shitty, rough last few years. The last year has been extra shitty and Xmas Day was a total suck fest, for multiple reasons. But nothing like this happened to me, or a close loved one. Perspective.
I tell my wife all the time,.....whenever you're tempted to feel sorry for yourself, try to put yourself in someone's shoes who have it far worse. It helps clear the fog of self pity a bit.
Sorry this happened. Glad it wasn't worse.

Well, I know I mentioned it, but I am again; if you dont like it- too bad. This was the first time I was 100% sober (not a drop!) over Xmas Eve and Xmas in at least a century. This may not be "big news" for some, but for me, who struggled with it, it is.

That's good shit. I come from a long line of alcoholics. I never became a drinker. I imagine it's harder to start and stop than it is to just never start.

Addictive personality runs in the fam too. I tried quitting before, and did for maybe 3 months. Then I went with “special occasions only” “holidays only”. That then went from 1x week (you’ll always find an occasion) to weekly and sometimes daily. Not just “I’ll have one or two”. We can’t do that. Got to have 6-8. Sundays? Drink all day long.

Good news is worth sharing, and that's a helluva milestone given that "special occasions" are commonly used as a hall pass. Way to go, Sean!

Not at all surprised. Look at what McD's did in Seattle when the dipshits forced a super high minimum wage.

The idealistic shit wits look at the profit margins of these huge companies and think that they can just carve some of that out for uneducated unskilled labor, but they fail to realize that the company is obligated to have those profits for their shareholders. The only way to no lose that margin is to have fewer of the uneducated unskilled labor. Increasing minimum wage just increases the cost of everything. It's part of the stupid inflationary practices that some are so fond of because of either their own entitlement or to buy the votes of their base through promises of "free" stuff and a "livable wage" for all.

    Fucking idiots.

I say this all of the time. Higher wages? Here you go, but it’ll be offset with an increase in everything. They think of immediate picture, but not long term, bigger picture. The quick band-aid is not the solution.
