Around here it's definitely lower class folks, mostly in small towns, or young guys trying to pretend they're tough.

 

In hindsight, I think it was someone else but I'll be damned if I can remember who.

No idea. I had to hike 6 miles home from work one night because my dad's truck broke down. House was locked so I slept on the brick floor.

Did a few hikes with the boyscout troop but no idea how far we went. Guessing less than 10 miles though.

 

One of our favourite hikes is about 5 miles up the side of a mountain. I seem to remember a couple really long hikes with my wife but I couldn't tell you now where exactly we went or how far they were.

Yeah, I remember that when I Googles during my experimental years. Already downloaded all of WA and laughed when I saw the “expires in July 2024” date. Yeah, sure…

Honestly, with the places you go you should look into onX Offroad. Pay for the subscription and then download all the info you need.

 

Most of my long *hikes are when I'm hunting so I don't know for sure, but it's gotta be 20+ miles.
I've had a few really long days getting back to camp.

Reasons 358 and 359 why I’ll never own a boat

 

For me - 20.1 miles.
For my wife - 26.4 miles with 30 lbs on her back as the final day of a 110 mile backpacking trip.

Better price and more features than OnX
I’ve been using it for years.
The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is how they do the vehicle guidance, but once you figure it out it’s useable.

 

I was in the Gaia boat but OnX has caught up in the last year or so. And they’re basically trying to give it away right now.

 

My future in-laws, daughter getting married in October, ALL drive Dodge vehicles.
The men(?) all have RAM trucks and keep buying new ones to 'outdo' each other.
Future SIL bought a 95" TV for their house because his Dad had a 94".

My daughter told me last year she wanted a Durango, I said 'WHY?'.
Seems that's what it takes to be part of that clan.

OnX is the same price as Gaia’s special offer price. I tried Gaia years ago. Buddy of mine that does a lot of off-roading likes onX better so I went that route.

 

Good to know. I’ll have to take another look at if. I’ll admit, when I switched to Gaia, OnX was a “per state” annual price very much aimed at hunters, and I found Gaia to have all the same info for the entire country and at a price less than half of a single OnX state. And the trail mapping/routing features were very simple and very accurate - compared to OnX not offering trail routing at all.

My Gaia subscription has another year on it. It’s been rock solid for planning backpacking and hiking trips over the past 5 years and getting me into and out of all kinds of places. But I’ll need to start comparing options and pricing with enough time to make the switch when I do need to renew. I know they all pretty much sourced from the same publicly available map resources

Separate app (and subscription) for off road trails vs hiking trails vs the hunt app.
$99/yr for private land data in any one of the three (unless doing only a single state in the hunt app).
On Gaia current price is $40/yr (if you can’t find a deal for multi-year discount like I did) and I’ve got access to all of that same data (including private land ownership) and more in a single place with easy switching between layers on the fly. This time of year, I’ve got the satellite hot spot detection and wildfire layers on in addition to the base topo and land ownership. In the winter, snow reports and ski area trails are in my rotation. I just discovered they recently added an overlanding layer too.

 

This is why I prefer a very small, light boat.

 

They sound like horrible people. My in-laws are the same way and we don't associate with them anymore. Even my wife doesn't like them.
Anyway, kids are kids. That's why most first marriages don't work out. Usually don't pick a good one the first time around.
Hopefully this one doesn't cost you too much.

 

Thanks goodness its Friday... Accidently hit stop instead of snooze this morning and slept in by 30 min. Then as I was making my coffee, I go to get the creamer out of the fridge which was hidden behind a few other items. Instead of moving everything out of the way, I decide to grab it by the lid and try to snake it out when all of a sudden the lid pops off, spills in the fridge and on the floor. Had to spend another 15 min. cleaning up that mess before I even got a sip of coffee.
