This is true. I value my time and I don't sell it for peanuts.

 

I’m sure you’ve explained it before, do you get increased wage for working nights or it’s all the same? I’m pretty sure my cousin did while working outage hours at the nuke plant

 

There is no shift differential. Hourly rate is what it is no matter what time or day it is. I wish I made extra on nights.

 

TW is heavily loaded with trolls. At least they are filtered into one area now.

 

Good thing tdotcom doesn’t have any trolls. That would be terrible.

Work feels weird after a couple people got fired. Sort of surreal, and not real confidence inspiring for the whole job security thing. I love my schedule, enjoy the work, but I always have a massive looming feeling of impostor syndrome, and this has ramped that up about a hundred and ten percent. Very much having the feeling I need to pay off debt ASAP and try to get ready to have a job that pays half what I make again. I hate uncertainty.

 

Except you are not in a job that has a steep drop in a recession. Those who worry about losing the job are the ones who value the job and work hard. The folks who get let go never worry because they do not care - which is why they are not good workers. However, getting out of debt should always be your goal! Once you are financially independent then the worries disappear because debt is a horrible master.

 

Without going into details, one of the guys was a top tier excellent employee. It was a sensitivity firing, as I understand it. That's what makes it all uncertain. If they'll can a guy with over a decade more experience than me, who was actively training me, showed up to work early, busted ass, covered shifts and vacations, etc. then there is absolutely nothing that makes me safe in my position. All it takes is for somebody to "feel" like I did something wrong.

 

Sometimes we do not hear the full story. In the current environment HR has to keep their mouths shut.

 

I feel the same syndrome occasionally too. I should feel really safe being in a union with good seniority, I don't get it.

Wouldn't hurt to dust off your resume and start shopping around for other companies. (On your personal computer, of course )

 

I've got enough info to know it was BS. It was a meme sent via IM. Somebody in the info tech department decided it constituted an incitement of violence toward employees. Basically if you are frustrated and say you'd like to punch somebody, not even specifically, you are potentially in the crosshairs. Basic human frustration expressed through a joke.

If I leave this job I'll probably have to live off my CDL again, as any similar work would require me moving out of state and likely into a city. I'm just not willing to do that. I do keep my CDL current, though.
