    I'd think so. It's pretty heavy. I don't off-road. I think it's 3/16 think.

Not sure I'd take much comfort in that statement... from a guy who makes his living selling and installing exhaust components.

Do you really believe that a thieves are crawling under trucks and inspecting the cats for authenticity before cutting them out?

If they are in fact just a security torx bit, they are available at most hardware stores. My Harbor Freight bit set even has a nice assortment of them.

Could be a quicker option for you.

I do believe the shop but I'm sure there are exceptions. Of course there are two Cats under the Tundra's and in my case, I had replaced the drivers side a couple years prior and the passenger side was still stock and they only took the stock cat. Hopefully there is a slow down in the thefts as I've seen several big time busts over the last few weeks. Let's see.

It would have to be every time you park your truck. Cat thieves are fast. Like a NASCAR pit crew. You could go into the grocery store for 15 minutes and be without a cat.

I agree. When I spoke with the police they said it only takes a good thief 15s to remove a cat.

My local HF didn't have any so I have to wait for Amazon to roll out a full set to me. Upgrading from loose bit to a 3/8 socket set I won't be able to lose, it'll go in my socket rolling bag along with my other sockets.

But there's also a spare 3/8 size-40-specific one coming that'll live in the glove box too from now on!

    Good to be prepared.

I wrapped mine in masking tape labeled it and tossed it in my automotive tool box, so I should hopefully be able to locate it when I need to do the next trans service or whatever.

I also filled my bolt heads with wax, so I'm kind of excited to see if that make ANY damn difference inserting the proper bit... Possible it gets warm enough down there to be gone already! Haha

Hey all, I was trying to find a cat cover for my 2005 Tundra. This thread had a link to Desert Eagle Offroad in Texas. Just wanted to say that it was a great experience dealing with them! I called on Monday, had the cover on Wednesday. Super friendly, super knowledgeable about Toyotas. I had an issue with a bolt on mine due to the rust under my truck, we all know these tundras are rust buckets. But they helped me with that as well. Really good people!

I am lucky enough to live in an area where I don’t have to lock my truck and in a county that doesn’t have emission testing so if somebody steals it it won’t be a problem. In my area the only reported crime in the last 5 years was somebody’s tractor got hot wired by some kids who took it for a joyride

I think there should be a device that electrifies the cat once the vehicle is off, and anyone who touches it when activated is instantly fried! It would have an off switch somewhere obviously so you don't accidentally kill your mechanic.

This came up in a thread when i was searching for cat covers. Someone had wired their truck, not to kill but a good shock, as they had theirs stolen like 2-3 times. they said shortly after wiring it up, they had a crackhead run screaming from under the truck, left his sawzall and all ;).
Had a switch to turn it on/off somehow. funny stuff
