Hello Tundra owners.... you know, it's sad to here that Toyota decided to drop their big V8 engines in the Tundra. That is the reason I bought the 2021 year model this past November. I'm sure many Tundra owners probably feel the same way I do. I'm sure this has been discussed many times since Toyota made that decision. However, I'm sure the 2022 models and beyond will do well in sales but I'm glad I bought one of the last of the big V8's.

    Hello!

While I share your warm fuzzies over the I-Force-The-Issue 5.7l V8 I lay awake at night trying to select the best oil for my engine.

Have you decided on a brand and grade?

What's the largest wheel and tire I can fit with only a modest and classy 12" lift?

Hi hagrid, I use the oil brand that the my Toyota service center uses. My guess it is the original Toyota brand? My Rav 4 has 110,986 miles and they have serviced my Toyota's since day one. I've read a lot of good reports that Mobil 1 oil is a good oil to use in any brand vehicle. Hope this helps.

That has been my philosophy as well and has served admirably for many years. But since I've been on this forum I've been reading about an oil that has "signatures" upon it... so many signatures that this particular oil has it's own series!

Mobil 1, my favorite, bears exactly zero signatures in spite of the fact that its API designation meets the requirements of the I-Force-The-Issue engine.

There has been much hand wringing at the House of Spraynard, I can attest.

I use Liqui Moly 0w-30 in my 2007. Its a high mileage daily so full synthetic was a must, and I work at a European auto shop so Liqui Moly is the brand we have on hand. Its definitely not the most affordable option out there, however.

    LOL this board sometimes ...

I did the same thing and I am happy with having the 2021 with the V8 too. I bought mine in April JUST before everything was harder to find.
I would never buy the 2022 anyway until all issues are figured out. For example I bought the 2008 instead of the first year 2007.
    Enjoy that V8 man!

    Yes and no.

Some of the upcoming Lexus models are getting V8s. If Toyota releases a Tundra Prime it will need a V8.

I've been accused of MPG gazing at the garage. I'll be honest I'm starting to get twin turbo envy. My supercharged V8 is feeling inadequate. Its all about the big loads.

The RAV 4 prime doesn't need a V8. The 4 cylinder can be tuned with a high enough output to out preform the tier below it. Same with the Prius engine.

The TTV6 has an upper limit and wont have the output to push it into that territory, if they go this route with Tundra there is usually another tier before a Prime model.

Base Tundra TTV6 < Tundra Hybrid TTV6 < Tundra PHEV with "over tuned" TTV6 < Tundra Prime

Edit: Toyota hasn't announced or even hinted at a Tundra Prime so its based on speculation compared to other line ups

Much more than the feigned excitement of 2022 Tundra youtube reviewers whilst standing next to the exhaust as their buddy revs the iFarce MAX.

Thats a big ask. COVID has changed hygiene standards to the extremes.

I'm no longer excited about the Soundaktor.
