Im from florida and over there you only pay renewal of decal which is about 65 a year for a brand new truck, but i recently moved to kansas and here you pay property tax, and let me tell you it is expensive, for a 2019 tundra sr5 i payd 750 the first year, 650 the second year, i imagine for a 2022 trd pro will be about 1200. my neighbor had a raptor and he paid 1400 for it a year

My son lives in Ga. Love that you can get your renewal done in the grocery store.

The taxes down here in GA is kinda asinine. It certainly shocks a lot of people who move into GA.. paying high tag tax...most just don't swap their tags out until absolutely necessary.

Each county is different in Ohio due to additional county taxes tacked on. My county is considered Appalachia since it's so poor but the county feels the need to tack on an additional 10 or 20 bucks to the cost of renewals. After paying the 7.25% sales tax when purchased new or used it's around $70some bucks (2021 prices) each year.

On the plus side, federal law sez the states cannot tax railroad retirement.

$80 a year in Alberta plus fees. They dropped it from $84 when they stopped using expiry stickers on the license plates but the registries started charging a $13 fee so it actually went up.

I kind of look at it as, they will get the money one way or another. Tax the car, or the house, or the income. usually a combo of several.
Here, the probat judge of the county runs the tag office. Ours won't charge a tag fee to disabled vets. State said he had to because other counties had people complaining. Well, the tag fee is a county fee, and he didn't budge.
