Something I'd add to the list, especially if long term ownership is likely, is I really love how well the interior panels have remained firmly mounted in my 07. I've removed many of them and many times for personal diy's and even on those rough roads theres no obnoxious rattling and vibrating.

Even with the a potential 1000 watts feeding my subwoofer, everything seems to still hold itself firmly in place 13ish years later.

I can't speak on behalf of recent GM trucks, but that's a small ocd type of touch from the Tundra that I seriously appreciate. It makes the truck just feel younger than it is.

Cross shopping a Model S and a Tundra. I’ll bet the marketing folks never thought of “that” consumer. Lol Awesome tho. If I didn’t need a truck, I’d buy the fastest/most expensive Tesla I could afford and just leave it in insane mode until it broke or I lost my driver’s license. Lol The dual motor Tesla’s are awesome. Good luck!

Sounds like you are in a good spot. Nothing like no car payments.

I work for a company that has the largest EV charging cebter in my state, and one of the largest EV fleets. We have several Model 3 long range and performance models that I am able to bring home during the week.

We had the electric F150 demo'd here last year, and have had opportunities to drive several other Tesla models (including the S 100d).

On top of this my company offers a monthly subsidy of $100 toward the payment of any EV vehicle, and the subsidy lasts as long as you are making payments on a purchase or lease.

I realize it's an odd mix to be looking at, but these are some of the vehicles on my list. I dont *need* a truck, but there are times when it would be really nice. I loved the room of the Tundra when I had mine for 2 years, and honestly that's still a big pro for the Tundra for me.

One thing that I just found out about with regard to Silverados is that it's not uncommon for them to snap a leaf spring from regular highway driving just after warranty is out. And it's one of the middle leafs too. MIL just had this happen today and the shop wasn't surprised it happened to her. Luckily only the side of the leaf made contact with her tire, and not the end. This is the last straw for me personally, GM is now at the bottom of the list for buying a truck to me.

I was a chevy guy, still am for the hot rods, but don't want to deal with how unreliable they are(or any domestic for that matter). I have had all toyotas and never had a problem with any of them. The only one I HATED with my 2017 tacoma with the 3.5 and 6 speed auto. Toyota REALLY screwed up how those transmissions shift. The tundra does so well, and then they have that crap in the tacoma... It's sad.

2018 - she drives ~100 km one way to work, 5 days a week. She likes the size too much to really look at hybrid SUV's, but I wonder if she'd do an EcoDiesel since she's likely to go for a Ram next.

I was just curious because I hadn't heard of this issue. I hope they fixed it on the new gen or my brother is going to be very unhappy in a couple years.

I still have a hard time believing a Ram would be less unreliable than a GM.

Me too - for the longest time I would have gone GM hands down if it wasn't for the Tundra. Now I'd have to say Ford is probably second in my mind (can't believe I just typed that) but Ram certainly has the best off the lot award locked up. But since the wife would probably leave me if I bought a Ford if I ever go HD it'll be a Ram for sure now.

Im a little late to the party, but heres my thoughts and why Im driving a Tundra and not a Chevy... Working at a repair shop I have had about three late model chevs in here that are needing engines with no harsh abuse or rough driving in the history. Warranty company denied the two claims that had warranty the third was just on his own and wisely chose to trade it in while it was still running ok and just has a check engine light that wont go away. My brother just got a 2014 K1500 against my advising him to go with the Tundra. His is still ok for now... we will see. I have yet to see a Tundra come in for anything more than regular services and the occasional tune up. I just picked up my Tundra a few weeks ago after having a chevy K1500 for 25 years ( I still have it just so you know..) and Im dumping my 2007 f150 with the 5.4L. I cant get rid of that truck fast enough. Its been good and has not broken down but Im feeling its ready and I dont want to be holding the bag when it take a sh!t. Go Tundra, I have every confidence you cant go wrong with them. Im betting on it myself. I have been working on cars for 30 years and Im ready to just DRIVE it and not work on it.

The glory days of Chevy are gone which is sad. Their trucks were bulletproof in 99 - early 2000's.

What is with all of this luxury crap in trucks now? I don't get it. Is this is how they justify the price? A bunch of cheap junk that will break in no time.

People are more concerned about having some huge tablet screen in their vehicles now. That is how your vehicle is judged now. lol

    Amen to that.
I bought a tundra because I know how reliable it is and it make enough power for what I want.
I don't want to have to worry about it having issues. The new chevys are crap, right along with ford and dodge. I am a chevy fan boy and man their new stuff is complete let down-we have people here where I work that swears by them and then will go plop down 4 grand for their magnetic ride control in their Yukon... sickening. Their resell value is horrible as well.

Got a new roof on the house this week. The contractor has a new, and beautiful navy blue Trail Boss. It was parked next to my Tundra. I should have taken a pic but didn't. He has had it a few months. It is an awesome looking truck. I like the way it looks more than my Tundra, and I really love the look of my Tundra. We were talking -- he said he loves the look of the Boss, but he is frustrated and it has been back to the dealer three times already. One time for the alternator dying he said the truck just died on him - he said it took them two weeks to figure it out and get the truck back to him. He said he had it back another time for unscheduled service, a CLE for a sensor.

I sometimes carpool with a buddy who has a 2019 GMC Sierra crew cab. It's a really nice truck inside and out. It has all kinds of bells and whistles. The interior quality looks way better than my Tundra but hey my truck is 13 years old. I have not heard him complain about a single thing and he's already put over 40K miles on it.

Entered into negotiations for a 2020 TRD Sport CM - having the dealer install Icon Stage 4, tint, wheels and Cooper AT3 XLTs. If they can get to the price I want OTD I will probably buy this week.

    It's Cavalry blue. =D

Thanks to everyone who helped talk some sense in to me.

Drove both a 5.3 and 6.2. Neither were bad but I didn't love either. The 6.2l is pretty peppy and I can see it being fun. The Silverado just seems like one of the last 7 girls left at the club when the lights come on and the one you had your eye on all night isn't around.

Bought the SR5 TRD Sport CM. She's a beaut. The amazing crew @ Fat Bob's Garage installed everything for me, and Marc sent me this picture. Going to pick it up in about 30 minutes.
