If I had the change to get (and afford) a landcruiser that is what I would have...and I would not look back. Best Toyota being made now in my opinion. I have always wanted one. Tundra fits my needs and budget. I own a 4th gen 4runner too. If I could get a landcruiser I would own it until death!

OP's first sentence was a little awkward, but I think he was offering to help provide insight to anyone who was having trouble deciding between the two.

My wife and I went back and forth for a while between a Landcruiser vs a Sequoia. We finally landed on a 2019 Sequoia instead of a Landcruiser, mainly due to price and what we use it for. I have been a Toyota guy since day 1 and the Landcruiser is definitely the crown jewel of Toyota's, but for a kid hauler grocery getter and some towing here and there we found the Sequoia hard to beat.

Not to hijack your thread, but I find the comparisons between the Sequoia and the Landcruiser very interesting!

Have had the same combo for a few years and couldn’t agree more with OP. I have a Tundra and my wife drives a 200 series LX now. And even have a 5th Gen 4Runner to round out the Yota household. We love these rides and I can’t see myself doing anything different for the foreseeable future. They may all be older platforms compared to their respective competitors, but I appreciate the reliability, build quality, and consistently high resale values.

Sad to get the news that the Cruiser 200 series is over after the Feb 1 dealer allocation and that we won’t get the 300 series in Cruiser form for now.

Sequoia is a fantastic truck and a great kid hauler. We have kids in abundance and seriously considered one but my wife liked the somewhat smaller form factor of the 200 (granted you pay for it in terms of the lack of third row space; but what do we care, we are in the front all the time!).

You know what, I see a lot of modded Tundras and modded 200 series trucks but not many modded Sequoias. This is your chance to do some trailblazing. And make sure you ensure that you let the family know that you are doing it all for them. Not you.

My apologies for the confusion. I have my own opinion but was curious of others. Never know what I might not be noticing and thought others may be curious of multiple opinions as well. I feel anytime someone considers a decision between two options there is a comparison to be made, as seems to be the case from some other posters in this thread. But I certainly respect that you don't see them as comparable. A perfectly valid part of the discussion.

You sir have a beautiful set of vehicles and I couldn't agree more. Love the blacked out 20'' tundra wheels as well. I have debated quite a bit on swapping to 18'' wheels, getting different tires to change the look, or having the rims painted. I am super disappointed about the news of the 300. While I could be convinced to go Lexus at some point, my wife strictly prefers Toyota.

My wording may have been poor. Sorry about that. But you are right, was just hoping to discuss the differences of the two and how they compare (or don't) and compliment each other for anyone looking for insight.

That's the Tesla head unit in the new Land Cruiser. It looks damn good. Anyone that has one of these (I do) knows you have to have the Russian Sergey do a complete overhaul of the software. Once you do that, they work pretty well.

Interesting. Does it have CarPlay or just an Android HU.

Mine was a 95' fully loaded and a full set of lockers. I had it for 20 years and almost 500k miles, priceless memories and countless trips before selling it. I never wanted to let it go. But after getting married, I gave it to my wife and then with kids we needed an easier access 3rd row. With 2 car seats always in the middle, it became clear we needed something better designed for a Mom shuttle. So I sold it for a Highlander... Happy wife= nice, but I should have never sold it!!!
I still have my spare set of keys for it, I pay homage, and many thanks to that truck, it's still the #1 truck I've ever owed.

    IMG_20170518_015938.jpg

This was circa 250k miles. Barely showed it.

We've had a 200 series since 2015 for the wife/family vehicle and I've had a Tundra since 2012. As someone said, the two vehicles are two of a kind. There's nothing real "special" about the Tundra like the Land Cruiser. Sure the Tundra is the best 1/2 ton option, but it's still just a 1/2 ton pickup. Like the OP said, the feel of the Land Cruiser is sort of unexplainable. I recently went with a Sequoia for my daily after selling the Tundra to switch it up a little and build up something unique. While the Sequoia has a more luxurious feel and plusher ride than the Tundra, it still doesn't hold a candle to the driving experience of the Land Cruiser.

My only complaint about the 200 is the size, but it's also something I like about it. If that makes sense? The 200 isn't much smaller than the Sequoia from a foot print stand point yet the cabin is much less roomy. I like this aspect when I'm traveling alone or with just my wife in the 200 because it's "cozy", but with any more than two people it gets cramped pretty quick.

With that said, if I could only have one vehicle in the world, it would be a 200 series Land Cruiser.

Landcruisers in Europe are built on the Prado platform, and are nearly identical to the Lexus GX460, although over there they're available in two-door body styles, like this one I saw in Dublin, Ireland last year:

Since a Landcruiser wasn't in our budget either, we chose a Lexus GX460 to go along with my Tundra and our Rav4 Adventure. Highly recommend the Lexus.

I am married to a 2008 Tundra CrewMax that is the best truck I’ve ever owned. I’ll admit I have a Landcruiser fetish, the lines, stance etc...just sexy as hell! So, the wife & I cheated one day and test drove a 2016 200 series Landcruiser. WOW! We were both floored how smooth it drove, shifted cornered etc. Absolutely could not believe it was the same 5.7L engine. We both looked at each other & said we need to go back to the dealer now, before we buy it. Someday before dead, I will own one.
BTW, just found a nice 2002 4Runner for my 15 yr old son. He still has stars in his eyes.

Those test drives will get ya! Amazing how different that 5.7 can feel between different platforms.
I think 3rd gen 4runners are perfect first cars. Easy to own/maintain. Make for fantastic memories.

Yup. That’s where it starts. I’m with you. It is amazing how much more refined the 200 series drives compared to the Tundra and Sequoia despite very similar drivetrains.

Okay, I know it’s not magic and there is a different transmission (at least since 2016), and a lot more engineering put into the 200 series because of its intended purpose as compared to the Tundra, which also comes at a significant cost premium, but still, it’s an impressive feat to me.

I have had a few 1st Gen Tundras and also 100 series Cruisers again built on similar platforms and again the differences are astounding to me as well as the similarities are impressive too!

The Cruisers are said to be designed and constructed for a 25 year life cycle where most trucks are designed for about 10 years in general and all of the little differences in construction and material quality just add up to that difference that you can feel when behind the wheel of a Cruiser or at least I can!

They cost more because they cost more to make and I think you get what you pay for here too.

Also the LC are full time awd and drive and handle like they are too.

There is a reason that many NGOs and international organizations drive the LC and actually all Toyota trucks in all areas of the Planet on both sides of every conflict and anywhere there are no real roads to get them there,Toyota Quality taken even further if you are willing to pay for it!
