    Hey there
Any Tundra musicians out there? Show off your gear or clips of your chops. This is my Gretsch Cat Maple 7 piece. All Sabian cymbals with Tama Stewart Copeland snare and Tama low tune Octobans. If I'm not driving or working, I'm usually sitting behind it. Been in a few bands, mostly as a lead singer, but also as a percussionist. Prefer rock music but like any kind of music as long as it doesn't suck. :D 20190711_073542.jpg 20190711_074149.jpg

Off topic discussion but thought it would be fun. :headbang:

Oh man I miss playing my drums. I’ve got a Gretsch round badge kit in storage waiting for a place to live in the open air again.

Spent almost 20 years playing daily. Played a lot of rock music and a decent amount of quartet/quintet jazz and full-on big band. Haven’t played in a few years now due to space constraints and it really eats at me.

Yeah, I had a cherry fade Gretsch Cat Maple that I sold because I wasn't playing it and I needed the space. The next day I said "why the F did I just do that?!?" Spent the last year recreating that kit with this one. Never again. Cymbals alone cost a fortune. :spending:
Plan on keeping this one no matter what.

Cool, Tundra drummers. I'll play too.
This is my 1978 Ludwig stainless steel Pro Beat kit with 24" kick, 13 &14" rack toms, 16"& 18" floor toms and showing is my LM402 6.5" X 14" Supraphonic snare.
    Not showing, I have a LM400 5" X 14" Supra.
I've owned these tubs since 1989.

    Thanks brother!
They're fun to play as I'm sure your set is as well.
They can be thunderous and mellow too with a light touch.
    Rock on man!

Drummer for over 40 years now. I was trained in the early 80s by Los Angeles professional Percussion instuctor " Kay Carlson" and professional drummer "Carmine Appice". Played in many Punk and heavy metal and rock bands. I still play my double bass kit - every day. 100_3685.jpg

    Whoa.
Carmen Appice? This is huge man! A legendary drummer that even John Bonham respected and even copied some of his stage antics.
    That's awesome BlueDream!
In case you have never seen or heard of Mr. Appice, here is a sample of his style and play on a very old but classic take on You Keep Me Hanging On.

Just did it. Did you hear it?
Honestly, I can play sections of YYZ, but have never pulled it off all the way through. Peart operates at another level. I can play Subdivisions, New World Man, and Spirit of Radio. Still learning, but will never get there. But it's fun as hell trying!

I'm an EVH fan thru and thru, so I listened to them regardless....even toughed Gary Cherone out.
BTW, that oak cask on my cab is aging a bottle of Cabo Wabo.

Dude, that's freakin awesome that you had lessons with Carmine Appice. And that's a pretty righteous kit ya got there. I've never seen a Rogers setup like that. What year model are they?
I try to play every day, been in bands as a drummer, percussionist, and lead singer. Miss those band days for sure.

I've heard that if you play your organ too much, you'll go blind. Be careful.

Yes. Met carmine when i was a young kid. I attended a Drum seminar clinic whatever you call it with my first instructor in 1979 or 80, and carmine was the Instructor/ or Main reason for the clinic. He was showing us his chops and Talking about his program. We all received copies of his Drum instruction Method program, which I then mastered over time. I believe his drum book was one of the best selling Rock Drum instruction manuals of all time. It is still available today. I credit Carmine and his style of drumming to mine.
As for the drums. Yes I am the original owner. Bought new in 1980-81. USA made. Rogers XP8 all 8ply maple. I have several XP8 rogers kits, but this is my main one. Thanks for the appreciation, only select people know about this stuff.
