@DPT007 How is the paint on your painted middle section of front bumper holding up?

How long have you had that section painted?

ok, so I found this steel plate with predrilled holes spaced apart every .75inches. after having the tires and rims on the vehicle we noticed in order for the wheels to clear the bumper and not rub, all we had to do was forward displace the bumper shell 1.5inches. this steel sheet did exactly that. 16 piece strips in total for all the mounting points on the bumper shell. On the factory holes i used the same hardware that was on the car, and on the bumper shell holes i found M8 x 1.25 bolts and nuts to thread in place. No additional movement of the bumper was necessary. there is one mounting point on the lower part of the bumper shell that needed to be cut off and the holes moved forward to also avoid hitting the tires.

Are you referring to the bumper shell itself? I never painted that, The Tundra is a Plantinum edition all the bumpers front and back came painted from factory.

@DPT007 Thanks for the update!!! Hiro had previously said 1" forward movement was needed for adequate clearance.

Yes, middle section of the bumper shell.

I did not know that about Platinum's, I just assumed they all came with the "black" non painted middle section.

@DPT007 How was/is the overall fit of the kit?

During the test fit, did everything line up like you hoped it would?

Really good actually. Although The entire kit is fiberglass, rough edges and the holes are not pre-drilled (which sucked)The edges i had sanded down by hand, but the surface for the the most part was made realitively smooth.

We had to hammer in the body, cut away frame supports and next step is weld everything shut

It’s now driveable with the new tires and rims!! Still have a slight issue locking out the steering and the tires barely rubs the inside well. We are placing new steering stops which decrease the turning angle a smidge

an adjustable bolt that stops the spindles from being turned too far. essentially it limits the amount you can turn the wheels preventing damage to either the wheels/bodywork or steering rack.

Ok so work is finally coming to a close. We finished working on the two front wheel wells. Add the pump stops to each front wheel and We cut out a seem 7B34080E-1428-4FE4-B54F-FF747248ABDE.jpg 049BBE08-2F53-4BA2-8C64-DF39AF538288.jpg E3FF9B75-2731-458B-B3C3-64CCE83DFCF2.jpg 4C534B32-7D20-4CE2-B5E3-A7EAAE030A10.jpg that was rubbing into the tires on a tight turn. Also finished welding up a portion of the sub frame that was cut.

So if u look at the previous post we welded a threaded steel rod to the turn angle that the turn arm comes into contact with. This lowers essential the turn angle of the truck, small compromise for me to get the desired look with the larger tires and rims for this build. I couldn’t be happier.

    Hi,

Ok so I’ve been told to wait until after paint to mark and drill holes in the body because placement may change a little during the painting process. But we plain on using blue painters tape to place the parts and use extra hands to help make sure things don’t shift while marking holes. Once they are marked we will remove the pieces and drill the holes accordingly.

    See pic for example
