Just installed rough country M1 adj strut at 1.75” with 275/65/20. Slightly front high by .5”, hoping it settles in the few weeks.

I saw this in another thread and commented. .. .but I'm shocked it sits that high at 1.75. I was thinking 1.5 would still leave quite a bit of rake, which I want some. We're they a pain to adjust? I do know you have to take them apart.

Yeah I measure before and front were 36” and now it is 40”. The lift is supposed to be 1.75” and tires is about 1.6” higher, so the difference should be 3.35”. I’m hoping it settles down by .65” which would make it more leveled.

i ended up having shop install it because it was so cheap, they charged $250 for installation and alignment

    The ride home felt good.

Would likely be perfect if it was a TRD OR. Hopefully settles for ya

What are your thoughts on ride quality with preload collar only?

I might add a Westcott 3/1 but I am concerned about reports of rough ride quality.

I only notice the rough ride at lower speeds. Definitely a firm ride driving around town hitting potholes. Highway feels stock.
35’s and 18” wheel cushion it a little. The stock tires and 20” wheel was harsh with the lift.

Did you only install the preload collar and not the spacer on top of the spring? I was thinking of doing that same thing. Wescott told me that this nets ~1.75" of lift.

Yeah just preload collar. Left top spacer out. My truck is a TRD sport so I got about 2.25” lift. Front is about 0.25” lower than rear.

I am curious if anyone has replaced their OEM front coils with Dobinson coils, while keeping the factory shocks. I am trying to figure out if using Dobinson C59-834 (2" front lift - Stock Weight) coils would be a good alternative to a preload collar or spacer lift. I have always liked using new coils instead of spacers on former vehicles that I have lifted, but wasn't sure if anyone has done this and what challenges it has presented. I have read through a lot of the threads on here, but haven't seen anyone use their (Dobinson) coils without replacing the shocks too.

my mall crawler on the RC 1.75. the front is slightly higher. from the rear angle it looks right. from side profile you can tell the front is slightly higher. will throw in a 1inch spacer in the rear eventually to even it out.

    Lots of stuff!
I had the same height difference. I added a 1" rear spacer and that helped account for the added weight from the DB cover, Thule and full skid plates and running boards. Pic was taken with a bunch of camping gear and 2 x 20 lbs propane tanks in the bed. Sits much better now.

I was going to do the 1.75 rc spacer but it seems it still sits nose high? Can anyone recommend a 1.5 inch kit?

Cornfed makes some quality kits! I’d roll with them. That’s what’s on my truck.

Awesome yea I think I’m gonna go with one of their set ups. Just trying to decide between just doing the 1 inch up front, or doing the 1.5 in front and 1 in rear. What are you running?

Looks awesome man. And it’s not saggy at all? Man I really can’t decide lol. I just don’t want it nose high if bed is empty. Keep going back and forth.

Seems like each kit looks different on each truck. I've been eyeballing the r.c. m1 adjustable struts. . More expensive than a spacer but not expensive at all. . Set it at about an inch and a half and hope for the best.

I did the 1 inch cornfed upfront. Looks great. Still keeps a little rake for towing etc. next up tires .

So I have a question that may be common knowledge but I want to be sure. Guess this thread works for it. Am I right by thinking the only difference between the regular front suspension vs. The TRD offroad vs. TRD sport are the struts? The sport sits 1/2 to 3/4 " lower than the standard for sure. . But does the offroad suspension sit higher than the normal suspension? Curious because I have analysis paralysis over leveling my sport. I feel like the 1/2" shims won't be enough but the 1.75 kits or whatever may be more than I like. So if the struts are the only difference, why not the standard struts with a 1/2" shim. Am I on to something or just stupid? Lol

Unsure if this will be of any help or not, but I just removed the stock TRD OR rear struts and have them sitting in my garage, I can provide their measurements if you’re curious.

Preciate the offer but not sure if that'll really help me with mine still on. What did you replace that with and what are you doing with the old stuff?

I put some Dobinsons on. 2” in front and then new struts with stock coils and a 15mm poly spacer in back.

The old stuff is for sale.

I think those o.r. struts would be great . . Just trying to make sure that's the only difference @Feartomorrow

I’ve only had it done a day, but it’s definitely less harsh on the road than stock, without being floppy. Hoping to get some more time in the truck this weekend.

Thanks! that's exactly what I needed to hear. I had someone tell me the Dobinsons was gonna ride super rough on the road compared to stock. I was really doubting that, I have the avs suspension and it's literally the worst feeling suspension I've had on any truck ive owned

Ya I doubt that as well. Only thing that would be harsher to my knowledge would be something like the westcott collar. I had that setup on my 4R and it was absolutely awful.
