I surprised myself too. Nothing I can do. Just sticking to positives. No one or any of my animals were hurt and my garage didn't burn down.

There usually is a bright side to most situations. Glad you didn't already have the 4K of parts installed on the truck either.

Never seen one burn. Mice/rodent issues and wiring are very common with these trucks thought because they use wiring that have some sort of soy product in the insulation. If you search there are a lot of stories of mice and squirrels chewing through wiring harnesses under the hood in these trucks.

    Holy shit...or more like WTF?

It used to be leaky carbs and dry rotted fuel lines on the old cars and they’d burn to the ground...this is scary...cant be identified by vapors...just happens?

This is scary, I’m gonna move my truck and park it outside for a while until Toyota have an idea or answer for this problem.. I was about to install my new wheels and fender but gonna hold it for a while.

It would be REALLY nice if the manufacturers would make these vehicles out of a type of plastic that won't catch fire. Wire insulation too.

Almost all of the wiring is fused on our vehicles. Is it possible that a fuel leak caused the fires?

Ford trucks years ago were known to light on fire. The sensor in the brake master cylinder would short out and the brake fluid would go up in flames. I believe there was a recall for it.

Motor oil isnt that flammable; but brake fluid, trans and power steering fluid is though.

What about the Ford trucks that would catch fire because of the seatbelt retractor?

My tundra caught fire. Went to start it and the starter kept cranking on it's own, for about 10 seconds. I smelled gas, tried to start it again, it mad a noise like it was running out of gas along with the starter cranking on it's own after I let of the key. Noticed flames coming out of my hood. Used three fire extinguishers from the tractor trailers at work but it burnt to the ground. 2016 with no modifications other than lift and tires

Jeez that's scary. I appreciate you responding and listing exactly what you saw before it happened, though. I park in my garage and now I at least know what to look for in case I need to throw it in neutral and get it outside as quick as I can so it doesn't take the house with it. :eek2:

    Sooo,

I called insurance. I called toyota Canada . I have a "brand rep" that has called me back and talked to me numerous times. I told them about what happened. They want the burnt truck and have been very nice so and offere apologies so far. They want to investigate. I am covered for insurance for fire. I literally talked this morrning and my brand ambassador ( Keisha) said videos and pictures are being reviewed by engineers. I've had the truck towed to insurance so far will keep updating

I have video of the fire first starting, and it looks like its from the brake booster. I'm no engineer but thats where it looks like it started.

Me too. I just spoke to Kaisha Moore of toyota Canada again. She called me. Im starting to get really frustrated. She keeps repeating herself, telling me they are coordinating an investigation on the truck. I know already. Do it. Of course they cant fly their engineers to winnipeg from toronto because of covid and quarentine. She keeps telling me this is going to be a long process. I know.

I told her I was worried. Im scared to pick another vehicle. I'm scared to pick a different brand. Ill probably be taking a loss of tens of thousands. She literally replied "that's what insurance is for"

Yea insurance is there to protect you but it doesn't pay off the price of a 3 year old truck.

I need a truck for my side business. And I've always trusted toyota with my life. Agggghhg I need to rant.

I'm beginning to feel this won't work out well
