I dropped off my truck for its 20k service. Amazed to see almost no Tundras or Tacos on the lot. When I was in for 15k in April it was like a Tundra storage lot with at least 35-40 dominating the lot.

Looked like thin on new and very heavy on used. 4 LCs upfront which maybe the most of any truck/ SUV/CUV on the lot

My local dealer seemed to be short on trucks, but then I came to see they had a secondary "storage lot" about a half-mile away with at least 20 Tundras and Tacos (combined). Not a knock against either, it's just good to see some inventory again.

This would be my guess as well. My two local dealers are sitting on about 70 Tundras and 70 Tacos. Metro of 1M people.

I haven't looked around me in a bit, but sounds like we're heading to the Lexus dealer sooner than later to check out the fresh allocations of GX550 coming in... Seems like they're having a harder time unloading these things before they hit the lot.

Just checked again since it had been a week or two - down to about 60-65 tundras but 120 tacos. :eek2:

Just give them time for the engines to start having issues, the prices will drop on em.

Luckily we aren't in any rush to get into one - and we have a pretty desirable trade. I'm hoping between that and the potential engine issues, we can get a deal.

Crazy that the Tacos are just as bad, if not worse, for new platform issues...

When I picked it up did spy several rows of Tacos at the rear. Website has about 12 Tundras with pics that are in site but not displayed up. That is definitely down from 4-5 months ago when the lot was Tundras as far as the eye can see.

My dealer is a mid size exburbs dealer who mainly sells in the immediate area. Not the megaplex dealer that sells to half the state

The dealer I stopped at to get my TRD skidplate had rows upon rows of new Tacos and Tundras. My dealer just called me last week to see if I wanted to get rid of my 2020 for more than I paid for it, doesn't make sense as I couldn't get a similar one for the same price now.

I agree that some are fishy. However, Toyota must know something as they wouldn't have agreed to spend billions?? on made up failures.

Because of stop sale on 2022 and maybe 2023 not sure. We took a 2022 ( previous sale - before stop sale) and it can’t be sold until engine is replaced but the customers come first for the recall so it is now sitting. For a year I bet. If tou go for it tell them invoice to net net! Should save you $5000 to $7000 before any rebate/ special
Rates. . I would do it but you be you. Let us know.

You can sell a used vehicle with an open recall anytime you want per federal law. A dealer can't sell a new vehicle with an open recall. Only stip sales per federal law would be any new 22s or 23s on a lot which are zero.

Unless your state has a law that augments the federal law. The state I am in has no additional law. Many do not since auto dealers spend big bucks to get laws passed to help them.

No. Maybe even worse, because thicker oil transfers more torque.

Highest oil pressure, greatest torque transfer from crank to bearing?

All I learned about Honda is that Accord eats transmission. Wasn't long ago, maybe 20-25 years. Would never buy one.

Seriously, though. Not long ago literally every Tundra owner was bragging how reliable it was and never gave any problem in a decade. This is how I got mine.

Now it seems the bragging point is how long you can go before the motor blows...changing of the times.

If my 2019 becomes FUBAR for some unpredictable reason, the next truck I'll be getting is a RAM. The engine may die anyways, but the exterior and interior are more appealing. I've seen so many RAMs in Canadian tundra a month ago. And exactly zero Tundras, even Gen2. Which is the question I can not answer, because, for example, wild northern part of Maine is infested with Gen2 Tundras. Before leaving the last outpost you can easily count as many as 4 Tundras on the horizon, excluding yours.

My wife and I had been looking to get an RV and set a budget of $85,000. First we looked at used Class A motorhomes but nothing came close to what we felt comfortable buying. I heard a radio ad for the Ford Ranger being able to tow up to 7,500 # and that changed my way of thinking. Our thinking was to buy a Tacoma and a 19 foot, 4,000 # GVWR travel trailer. My wife saw a 23' , 6080 GVWR she wanted and that put us right into the Tundra. I told her if we couldn't find a new Tundra we weren't going to buy a trailer. The reliability issues and lower resale values of the other three brands weren't something I was comfortable with.

If it's just my wife and me overlanding, I think we just take her TRD PRO V8 Sequoia. 2 and 3 rows fold comfortably to 2 bed setup, with plenty of head room to sit, dress and walk out. For rainy or too hot day it has ARB awning + room. On the hitch it has Yakima EXO with two 10 cu.ft boxes. Perhaps she can live with just 1 box, and replace the other one with kitchen/fridge setup. Dirty camping stuff goes to roof basket.

But, yeah, reliability must be out of question.

I have owned 2 different Ram trucks 2013 1500 and a 2014 2500 gasser. I had no issues with either truck, I tend to trade vehicles around 100-120K or less so I don't know how those two would have held up pushing them a decade and 200k or more but I had no complaints.
