I just hit 20k miles on mine today. Couldn't be more happy with the truck and the little Duramax.

My wife had three Odysseys as we raised our kids. The first one we traded for the second one due to tranny issues. The second and third ones were totaled. Then my wife chose a Highlander. She just turned over 300k miles on it and it's still going strong.

I need to start making calls to the local dealerships and find out which ones (if any) have a truck for a loaner or will give me a ride somewhere to get a rental. That was always the biggest downfall of getting anything done on my Tundra, at best I may get a 4runner, but usually it was a corolla or similar. Cant put my mountain bike in a corolla and theres no hitch for my bike rack. I suppose if I go hunting I could always toss everything on the trunk or roof and strap it down, just might return the car looking like a scene from a horror movie...

But I bought a truck for a reason, they really need to do better about having one available for loan when this thing finally starts happening.

Understood but doubtful any one dealer will do 800 to 900 that the fatone was claiming (post 951). Even if there was only 600 dealers, the average per dealer would be under 200. He probably just mistakenly added a zero when he did his calculations.

I believe as part of the recall they pay for a rental car of your choosing up to $60 a day until the recall is complete. I hardly ever rent trucks (just cars) so I have no idea how that daily rate compares for a long term truck rental.

I would probably take them up on the rental, make them spend as much money as possible for their mistake, and use it as an opportunity to test drive a bunch of different vehicles on their dime. But then again, I like renting and driving different vehicles, especially when I'm in Europe and get to drive stuff we don't get here.

I can see how that would be nerve wracking if you don't like driving different vehicles.

This is what gets me. I used to totally trust my local Toyo mech guy and there were a few in the local dealer I liked. They had some turnover after the vid and I'm not sure I have the confidence in some schmo exploding my front end and getting it back together as it was before. Will they offer us a nice embossed leather duffel for the extra parts they had left over?

I am gun-shy as we had a dreaded new Jeep Cherokee with the new 3.6 in 2012 and lost a cylinder on trail ridge drive about 13000 feet. Had to get back home and have the left head replaced and a few other things. It was never the same and we punted. That was when we bought her 4runner.

I have owned about everything under the sun and we landed on Toyota almost exclusively (owning 4 now). I pretty much lost faith in the big 3 a while ago. My farm truck is a Dodge because I don't care what happens to it. I really am not clutching my pearls- I just don't want to see Mr. Toyoda's legacy knocked down to the extremely low level of the domestics. Do better.

I post this as it pertains to Toyota going cheap on their trucks. I bet this is similar for Tundra's going forward. Look at where Toyota is lowering what is included and poorly designing the little brother of the Tundra.

I hope they do better with the 4runner re-design. Then again these cuts must be made to pay for 100,000 motor replacements.

Weren’t those shortcuts designed in before the 100,000 motors was even a possibility of a remedy?

From this video I learned that 2019 Tundra SR5 DC TRD Offroad in red color, $35k MSRP and 0% APR for 60 months is so good.

Where would the cuts you reference be on a timeline of the Tundra recall?

Like everyone that re-financed their house at 2.75% in 2020 before prices and rates exploded.

Good point. They will have to cheap out even more than building them in Mexico.

At least the Tundras are made in the USA for now.

From this post I learned that there are still many non-Gen 3 Tundra owners posting on a Gen 3 Tundra thread.

Ditto. I just rolled 3000 miles on mine since I bought in and couldn't be happier. The baby duramax pulls like a diesel should pull, the GMC fit and finish is beautiful, the ride is silky smooth, and the MPG is insane. I could see going back to a Tundra at some point, maybe. But the Tundra engine issue is just a shame. It sucks for all involved.
