FWIW, which probably isn't much, when BMW replaced the rod bearings in an M3 I had they extended the warranty to 100K miles. Maybe not a good proxy but BMW is more of a pain in the ass so I would expect Toyota to so something similar. The M3's with the replaced bearings were higher value when they were sold and the Blackstone tests would always show metals as a precursor to the bearings dying.

Has anyone received a letter from Toyota to have their motors replaced, and has anyone had their motor replaced?

Regional manager? What could that guy possibly do offer you a bottled water.

Crazy toyota sends Ultimate warrior field techs from the mother ship. Just to tell you could not duplicate.

    lol I wasn’t being defensive.

There’s just so much “certainty” based off speculation being thrown around by everyone that I figured it was worth clarifying the situation being referenced by the post I quoted.

Unfortunately though, you posted a video by that one mega douche as a source, so I can’t give you any useful credibility:(

It's still pretty much anybody's guess which trucks could still potentially be affected. You are after the date of 01/24 when they supposedly changed the part #s for the short block and partial engine assembly, for whatever that is worth at this point. IMO, just try and enjoy your new truck. With all the banter on forums and YouTube, it's one of those things that can consume you if you let it.

I suspect Toyota has become very focused at this point on their engine to say the least. This is quite a mess they have! Even with the reported new superseded number bearings only time will tell if this is the end-point of the fix. Those who get their new engines will be watched closely by all and if it doesn't work I wouldn't want to be the guy in the company with the sign "The buck stops here".

I am a 4/24 build, purchased 5/24/24. I'll give my thoughts below, but first some pre-work.

HERE is a link to the Care Care Nut's thoughts on the matter. It was before the long block info was known. These are some fine points:

    • The first 8 minutes and 14:30 - 19:00 are interesting
    • 4:00- Design verification
    • 5:15 - Both US & Japan
    • 5:45- #1 bearing
    • 7:00- A better oil flow diagram @Retired...finally @AZBoatHauler
    • 9:00 - How debris could be the issue
    • 15:15 Parts Department
      • 16:30- Engine!
      • 17:45 Phase 2, 3?
      • 18:25 Main Bearing changed

He summarizes my speculative thoughts at 17:45… All trucks manufactured before 1/2024 will eventually get a new engine(Most will not fail). It is also possible all trucks manufactured through 4/24, when the part number changed will also get recalled. We (4/24 builds) are right on the cusp in my worst case. The fix is easy though, drive the bitch. :-D

    YMMV or TEMMV (Engine)

I received a letter from Toyota today. It confirmed my truck will get a new motor no charge and said Toyota will notify us when the dealers have access to the new motors. There wasn’t a time frame mentioned.

This is a forum…. the few 3G owners who are being triggered by the discussion can feel free to NOT visit a thread devoted to interesting news about the 3.4TT… a motor whose failures are literally the billion dollar news story at Toyota NA these days.

It’s a totally legitimate question he was asking.
So sad to see a couple folks like you who would rather come on here and rag on folks instead of contributing anything meaningful.
You should think on that. Good day.

    This.

And those of us in various stages / phases of "window shopping" are here to check on information with regards to a potential purchase, and what remedies are available for the biggest potential controversy for the world's most reliable auto manufacturer (of which we are current owners and/or enthusiasts).

Can't wait to be told "should've done your research bro" in a couple of years by these same Knobs.
