No I did that and to top it off I went to public school in New Mexico. So that might explain it.

Edit due too big clumsy fingers and small phone.

No, just got to experience the power loss at high speed. Truck has been fine since but pretty nerve wracking driving it after!

My 24 experienced a loss of power for about 10 seconds. I was waiting to turn left on green. The truck fumbled and gas pedal was not entirely unresponsive. I had it floored and pumping the pedal truck would go about three to five miles an hour.
I slowly went around the turn and the truck came to life. Had the pedal floored and boost climbed to the top of the gauge truck launched forward been fine since. You’re right it is nerve racking. If I did not have a green arrow oncoming traffic could have hit me.

I think I was removed from the group today? I can no longer see the group.

To think, I just agreed with a post this morning telling unhappy people to sell their trucks. I guess that got me banned.

Seems a bit higher being that Toyota is replacing over 100k engines to start, but keep quoting that number. That'll make it real.

No one seems to know that answer, and I doubt Toyota does either. But it was already approaching 1% of the vehicles within the recall period, at the time of the recall announcement on 5/30. They are still failing, as are vehicles outside the recall period, as are hybrids. It (rate of failure) only goes up.

    Lots of stuff!
I think Toyota expects the percentage to grow and that is probably why they are giving out the new engines to the first 100k trucks.

I am not trying to argue, just trying to get the real info. Yes some trucks are still failing. The rate is the same or less as before but more trucks are being produced and so the percentage has to be going down, even if Ryan Greg was the lucky bastard to put it to the .501.

Let’s put it this way - more trucks have failed than have reached 100k miles. It’s not looking good.

I am getting close to 75k and going good. Is there a problem, yes. Realistically how big is the problem. .501%, 1%, 1.5%?

With the sheer number of trucks out there it still is a small percentage of the trucks.

My response wasn't argumentative either, just analytical. Just over 100k engines have been recalled. The number reported as of the late May announcement was something like 824 confirmed and 166 field reports. The recall didn't include any hybrids or engines produced after mid 2/23 so let's not consider them as part of the denominator in determining failure rate. The failure rate of the recalled vehicles climbs with each new failure from within the recall period.

If I were making an argument, I would say while all the recalled engines haven't technically failed yet, they are ALL effectively failed by the "fix" being a replacement engine. What becomes more concerning is that all these engines are being replaced with a "fix" that was supposedly in effect on vehicles produced in the 2nd half of 2/23 forward. Problem is, engines are still having the SAME failure, even if it appears to be at a reduced rate. So if I were making an argument, I would say there still isn't evidence that the problem has been or can be "fixed".
