It would be a boring world if we all thought alike.

I drove my 2015 Tundra from Colorado to Sanibel Florida, and back, at least once a year for the 8 years I owned it. Sometimes twice a year. 30 hours and 2000 miles one way. I put 140K miles on that truck, and the only non-maintenance related repairs was a leaky water pump and a rear wheel bearing, both at over 100K.

I never felt my '15 1794 lacked power or creature comforts. And it handled the rough dirt roads I travel on daily far better than my Gen 3. Overall it was just a much more solid truck. My 2008 Tundra was even more so.

But I'm glad you like your new plastic Tundra, and I hope you continue to enjoy it.

well never know, if I had to bet, I would bet it wouldn't sell for shit compared to the 1/2 ton numbers they move now.

it would be cool if they built both but shit, it just isnt going to happen.

at least they didnt go down the heavy half route Nissan did, what a flop.

I have a 21 year old Sequoia my son daily drives. It has 255k miles and the only issue it has is the rear hatch window motor is shot.

saw a super old Toyota truck the other day, like 22re old, my son asked my about it and I said that has the most reliable motor ever made, that truck will run forever.

he said, thats probably why they stopped making it then, you'll never buy a new one, HA. Perceptive for 8 years old.

One thing, there is a SHIT LOAD ,and I mean SHIT LOAD of toyota trucks in AZ, my lord they are everywhere, all gens

I see nothing about any new body on frame Toyota as "flashy or fancy". Nor do I understand the 'Tech' people are referencing for use.

Today, every competitor has more bang for the buck if flashiness and tech is what you're seeking. If that's what I wanted, the current Tundra would be the only half-ton that I wouldn't consider. The Hurricane or Hemi from RAM with their vastly superior interior and tech are way more interesting options, a far less reliable Powerboost from Ford that has true advanced tech with a 7.2kW generator onboard is way more sophisticated and useful, and an extremely reliable and efficient 3.0 Diesel from GM with a Tow package has way better infotainment system.

Plenty of low mileage G2+'s in circulation. Let's hear from a G3 owner who's walked the talk back to a G2.5 or earlier. Must have been a known G3 owner. C'mon, do it!

I had a 22RE in college. White with a full matching topper. I customized the bed with padded and carpeted storage that I could convert to a bed across the wheel wells for camping trips. I loved that truck, except it rode like Conestoga wagon. I didn't care, I was 19 years old and bullet proof.

I hated to have to sell that truck when I foolishly got a DUI and lost my license for a year.

There has been at least one that's done it - many say they're looking. I'll see if I can find who it was.

Yeah I think it has to be by itself. If they do both ½ and ¾, then I'm with you - ¾ doesn't move/sell

    What don't they have?

better quality leather and seats, better infotainment, more sophisticated powertrain, a trailer specific camera system, that's more than enough and I ddn't even talk about the advantages of an I-6.

My buddy's '21 1500 Ram with the 5.7 HEMI doesn't have any "vastly superior tech", but it does have superior fit/finish and ride, IMO.

He hasn't had single problem with it in 50K miles. Just one minor recall. I kinda regret not taking a harder look at them when I bought my '23 Tundra.

RAM Truck Sales by Year (2020–2025 YTD)
Year Units Sold Change vs Previous Year
    2020
    563,676 ↓ 11.0% from 2019
    2021 569,388 ↑ 1.0% from 2020
    2022 468,344 ↓ 17.8% from 2021
    2023 444,926 ↓ 5.0% from 2022
    2024 373,120 ↓ 16.2% from 2023
    2025 YTD (Jan–Jun) 174,320 ↓ 2.9% vs same period in 2024

Looks like customers are avoiding the vastly superior interior and tech of the RAM in droves. Want me to compare weeks supply on-hand?

Matt, you're contest eligible to play as a G3 owner. What keeps you from walking the talk, unloading that plastic G3 for a low mileage G2+ or superior RAM truck?

Yet, they've sold roughly 5 times more RAMs than Tundras over those same years.

And yet Tundra sells all that they make, with a much shorter days supply of inventory. Back to my original question to you as a disgruntled G3 Tundra owner, why won't you walk the talk and find a G2.5?

Nothing is keeping me from "walking the talk" other than time and motivation. I don't particularly like dealing vehicles, especially after only 2 years. My G3 has already lost 30% of its value. I'm hoping that levels out some in the coming years before I unload it.

Regardless of inventory, they sell 5 RAMs to every one Tundra. I wouldn't call that "avoiding the RAM in droves".

subjective on the leather, the platinum leather is just as good, not sure on the new updated capstone.

subjective on the infotainment, I cant stand the screen layout they have and the tundra is way higher resolution

my truck has all kinds of back up of things cameras for trailers, you can get the ball right under the mount its so good, after you lower your truck down to make it easier to hitch.

so, it seems you just have a subjective opinion its better, which is totally fine, but Im not seeing anything on your list that is "vastly superior" yet

Tundra is outselling Ram some months now. GMC has overtaken Ram as the #3 full size truck in sales

Stellantis is killing Ram and Jeep. Sky high prices, no Hemi, old product
