I've asked it before, but nobody responded....

Have any of you been denied warranty work from Toyota because you couldn't provide a paper trail for oil changes?

Now I'm glad the dealer didn't accept the offer I made on the 2025 I was looking at.

Nope. Not yet. However, if i change my own oil, it makes it hard to create that paper trail and it also requires me to be far more organized than I am. The documentation for the warranty specifically requires you to keep all receipts for work done to maintain the warranty.

I've done 6 oil changes in 27K miles. 2 freebies by the dealership. 2 by my trusted local mechanic. 2 by me. I don't have a specific file with receipts, but my credit card statements would have all the information I'd need. I'm not worried about it.

Left unsaid so far is what this means for the new engine assemblies being produced for the recall. Do those have the "fix"? And if so, why have the 2024s and 2025 not gotten it during their manufacture which happened concurrently? None of this makes any sense.

Want it to make less sense? According to the in-progress paperwork for my '25, my dealer ordered (according to them, they ordered the exact part numbers the FTS told them to) and received an old short block part number... Theoretically meaning the bottom end going into my truck is older than what was in it from the factory. Or maybe that wasn't the part that actually was installed, because getting answers from my dealer seems like it requires an act of congress

I hear your point on peace of mind but wouldn’t this technically be considered part of the recall versus warranty?

@sudobash - TRD Pro/Hybrids still no where to be found on any recall/remedy? The "motive" claims are nonsense.

Can anyone find the V35A's crank cradle on any of the Toyota parts website?

Unfortunately not. My truck is outside the recall window by a few months. An engine failure would be a warranty issue unless they expand the recall, something I doubt will happen.

I would like to think an engine replaced under a recall would be covered by the platinum warranty for those of us under the recall. To not cover OEM equipment, replaced by Toyota, at the direction of Toyota, would be deranged. I believe I’ve read that it would be covered. And, it’s not listed in the list of exceptions in the paperwork.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it would be wise of Toyota to expand the recall to 2024-2025 unless that’s already in the works?

Me too. I think the Tundra was the best of weak choices. I do love the way mine drives. The ongoing lack of clarity and a dealer that has turned out to be dull makes it pretty equal with other makes for me.

I think they are just going to leave it as is and handle any failures on a case by case from now on.

Its hard to imagine a huge all engine recall for all years, I dont see that coming even though there are failures in all years and now there are #notryan whispers of something else brewing?

It just takes one death on a truck outside the recall window and Toyota will be singing a different tune.

That may be true too! But look at GM… lol who knows what will happen. I do know that if this is the case that they still haven’t fixed the problem even though they said they did, there will for sure be lawsuits

Maybe not the right place to ask this question, but are these engines failing all over the world? Like in countries that are running 10W-30 are they seeing the same failures?

3rd gen Tundras also suffer from mild hood flutter at freeway speeds. Thin aluminum hoods on both.
Mine didn't get the wind noise issue thankfully.
