Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.

My truck hit 88,000 yesterday and it still hasn't blown up. But I do use mobile 1, 0-20w and a 10k change interval.

I have zero concerns about resale fortunately.

I traded my 2021 Tundra when I bought my 2022. I got 5k more than I paid for the 2021. Granted I paid full sticker on the 2022.

I have 50k relatively trouble free miles on the 2022. I say relatively because I've never owned a new vehicle that didn't have some recalls or minor defects. Shit happens no matter the brand/model.

So why am I not worried about resale? I guess cause sometime when I'm good and damn ready maybe 25-50k miles from now, I'm getting a new engine for free and that twin turbo 389 HP motor is gonna be my daily driver for another 100k miles.

My guess is that when that time comes non tundra owners will still be bitching on page 10008 of this thread. Lol

You'd be unhappy about getting a brand new free engine? Heck according to your post you'd be replacing an engine with only 200k left in it with one that has 360k left on it. I'd be toe tapping my happy ass to the dealer.

Want to see some depreciation, go look up Chevrolet z71s. 30-40k miles for 28-37 grand

As Tidechaser said, I could care less on resale value. I buy a vehicle because it's what I need, what I can use, what I like. I don't buy it because of resale value. That's like buying it & looking forward to selling it at the same time.
I the case of the Tundras, use the Hell out of them, put miles on & get a new engine for free. Win win in my book. Who cares about depreciation, use it ALL up.

Isn’t worrying about resale value kinda like worrying if your girlfriend will still be nice and tight for the next guy after you break up?

I don't need to see something to determine if it is a fact. I'm pretty sure we nuked Hiroshima, although I didn't personally see it.

Don’t worry, this verification requirement only applies to positive info on the 3rd gen. Anything negative or doom and gloom worthy you find anywhere on the interwebs or second or third hand can be posted here without having to bother with this craziness.

Harley guys used to say that about trying to keep the miles on your bike low. At least that’s where I reappropriated it from.

I mean, unless it’s a defective design like Hyundai/Kia or something “undetermined” like what’s happening with the 3rd gen Tundra eating bearings, I don’t recall anyone wearing out a motor on a Tundra or anything else for that matter. Rust / cosmetic condition / other mechanical issues / boredom have sent all of my previous vehicles to their next home, never an engine.

And many other similar situations besides, including the one in this forum. Still remains so very appropriate IMO! :D

Does this drop the value of my truck? Oh no, how will I survive this?! :D

I wouldn’t have a problem with it. My 5.7 went 285K before a deer totaled it but I like my 3rd gen better and the motor and transmission are better at least to me. My 3rd gen is getting ready to hit 70K in 2 years and the truck runs and drives great. Want to give me a new motor, no issue, Ill just drive it another 100K than anticipated. There are likely 3rd gens with more miles than your 5.7 these days. :) I keep my vehicles along time, last one 15 years.

Yeah man, I agree, trade in isn't a real concern to me. Don’t get me wrong, when it’s time to upgrade again, getting a few dollars more would be great but I’m not going to spend 7-10 years driving something I don’t like because it might be worth a little more at the end. And I love driving this truck. It’s gotten me through some nasty weather conditions up here without a hitch. 2.5 years and 100k km driving through heavy snow and blizzards sometimes (not on purpose but it happens). My second gen with 182k km and 10 years old got me C$16,900 on trade during the midst of COVID stock shortages when used cars were worth some good money. If I get around that when I eventually trade this one, I’m ok with that. If I don’t, I’ll just see it as “enjoying my ride” tax.

If you look at who I responded to he literally stated that he knew for a fact that Toyota retooled and cleaned their factory and that therefore he also knew they'd fixed the debris issue. One can't definitively know that to be true from a phone call with a Jabroni in customer support

Something Ive always had is throttle lag in eco or normal modes. I wonder if this gets cleaned up with the engine replacement.

There was a TSB to fix this. I don’t know if it ended up working but you should ask your service guy.

I reported this lag issue last week to my dealer while taking it in for that and a window issue. They duplicated the window issue and cleaned the wiper and believe it is fixed. Never duplicated the lag issue, but I have it documented. They didn’t say they had a resolution with that.

I usually stay in eco mode as I’m not looking for a sporty truck. Has this been seen to occur only in eco and normal mode with not occurring in sport mode?

For the small fraction of Gen 3s that have the throttle lag problem, the drive mode doesn't seem to matter. A few guys have reported that it's not as bad in Sport, but still happens, occasionally.

LOL, No, no NO! There was a qualifier in there, "at least 200k more". Have you seen the oil analysis guys have been posting on their 5.7L? There is next to no wear going on these engines.

My engine will not be the first thing to go on my truck, nor will it be a thing that causes me to replace it one day. The seats will all crack, it will be dented, the paint will be pealing from weathering, the fuel pump could quit, the power seats/mirrors/ windows electric motors may be shot, heck the tranny might even fail around 400-500k miles, but it will not be the the engine. That's my point, the engine will still be good when something else causes me to retire or replace it, but it won't be the engine.
