Give it a little longer. Justin is out, now we just need to get Pierre in and we’re set. Not too long hopefully.

How many miles do you have on your Tundra? I have 51k basically trouble free miles. My guess/strategy is wait until high 60s or 70s before I voluntarily take the swap.

Even if the 12k miles and 12 months stands for the warranty, I'm driving on free miles until I pull the trigger voluntarily or if Toyota forces the issue.

Really kind of a win win.

Hope you're not sharing your financial vision with family members. This engine recall is petty cash ....they are a $250 BILLION DOLLAR company. Fighting for every penny hahahahahaha

I called my friend-lawyer to check on the details and I stand corrected on some of the facts.
Indeed, both insurance companies paid the losses of their respective policy holders. What happened is that the neighbor's insurance company sued the car owner to recoup their costs (claimed "arson by negligence"). The neighbor joined the lawsuit for "damages and losses" not covered by his insurance company. The verdict was that the car owner had to pay and the amount was way more than what he collected from his own insurance company. Most home insurance policies do not include 3rd party liability unless you buy a separate "umbrella" coverage that the guy didn't have. So in the end the guy ended up broken without a house, all the money he got from his insurance went to partially cover the neighbor's insurance claim, and was left on the hook for all legal costs as well as the gap between his policy coverage and what the other insurance company demanded plus "damages" to his neighbor.

3rd party liability" Isn't that what the personal liability coverage is on a policy. I guess if that portion wasn't enough to cover the loss then I can see that. Also, why didn't the neighbor have enough coverage to cover all his losses and why did the negligent person not have enough personal liability to cover a total loss. I have 300K and I don't think it's quite enough
And broken without a house? Does he own the house outright because I would think the mortgage company would not be OK with that.

Who cares, I guess the Tundra's have quit failing if we're talking about insurance liability coverage for burning down your neighbor's house.

Unless there is a judgment, insurance won’t pay a third party until they get a release of liability against their insured. That’s the whole point of liability insurance.

I have 54k trouble free miles. I was going to do the same as you until I talked to that mechanic. Figured winter would be the time to do it, before towing season with the camper. Truck is running exceptionally well and I still haven’t ever changed the plugs. So I am torn a bit but now I am committed. lol I even just got an oil filter in the mail and was going to change the oil next weekend, but this OCI just went to 10k or engine replacement, whichever comes first! ;)

So much hate. Yes it is frustrating. Yes you have a right to be mad. No this isn't unusual. Recalls happen all the time and some are just more severe than others. Toyota frame recall anyone? No NHTSA didn't force Toyota to recall anything. And no Toyota won't go out of business.

Took my 22 Limited in this morning to report the stalling issue. Along with my drivers window skipping around going down. This morning it actually stopped twice while going down. I’m sure it’s from an over current from being wet. I definitely need to get it documented for the stalling issue. I’m at 17K miles. But bought the 84 month and 125K bumper to bumper warranty back in August when I got the truck.

In fairness, Toyota has had since 2017 to sort out whatever is wrong with the manufacturing or design of the 3.4TT and here we are seeing 2024 and 2025 models eating bearings just like the 2022-2023. And then there are the hybrid owners, who will be asking for goodwill long block replacements or will get stuck with short block rebuild. This is a disaster that just seems to be getting worse and worse for Toyota. I read on FB that defective motors were put in trucks throughout 2024 and continued to be put in thousands of 2025 Tundras too… but trust Toyota…. because NOW the “production cleaning process” has been addressed. Apparently the “fix” in 2022, 2023 and early 2024 didn’t work. But this year, yeah, this year is the ticket. I don’t believe anything Toyota says about this motor or what’s really wrong with it. IMO they’re stringing customers along with half truths until they can retool and/or design a new engine altogether. There’s a lot more to this story than some incidental machine debris not getting cleaned IMO. Time will tell.

For me, I waited for the 2024s to come out thinking they’d have it sorted out. Then 2025s, but I’m not optimistic. Maybe the 2026 refresh?

I did. My dealer says that at this time they're only replacing engines on an as-needed basis. I'm ok with that. My truck is running great and I'm not real anxious to have it taken apart.

Visit the Facebook group. Look at the pictures. Actual names of posters on FB. VIN numbers listed on some. But even that might not be enough for the skeptics. One infamous poster from this site recently said the issue wasn’t resolved for the 2024s. And that thousands of 2025s were produced with the same problem before the “next” debris fix was initiated at the factory. This problem doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

One would hope the warranty on the new motors would be the same as if you purchased a new truck. I think that is the only fair, and respectful thing to do! 3 years 36,000 miles.

@testerdahl confirmed 12 months unlimited mileage warranty for the new long blocks. If you have 12 months or more left on the factory warranty - there is no extension.
