Appears to be the expected increase in sales in NA after the release of new versions of many of their popular models over the last 2 years. Tariffs and recalls / warranty repairs are probably big financial hits for them currently.

It's been widely reported that the hybrid gas engines fail in the exact same manner as the non-hybrid. When that happens there is no "motive power" from the electric engine as Toyota claims. So their excuse for not recalling the hybrids is a flat out lie.

Combine that with the fact that engine failures that aren't included in the recall are getting a sub-par short block rebuild instead of a complete crate engine like the recalled trucks.

There is one proposed class action lawsuit on this that I'm aware of, but I think it misses the mark because it convolutes the engine failure issue with the throttle lag issue. I'm certainly no attorney, but this sure seems like a case someone would like to take on.

I don't consider anything I read here to be widespread nor reporting unless it happened to your personal truck. Everything else is just part of the urban echo chamber.

Wife and I are the exact opposite. Case in point, we just bought a new (to us) 2022 Mercedes GLE 450 for my wife. She loves it but for the stupid lane keeping assist. We live rural, smaller 2 lane roads and smaller highways for most of our driving, but also 4 lane divided highways to get into the city etc. We also live close to the mountains, so we get a lot of bicycle traffic, especially on weekends. Despite signs posted every 50' (exaggeration) for cyclists to ride single file, they typically do not. I'd say 1 in 10 groups have a survival gene and they ride single file on our zero shoulder roads.

Wife was driving home the other day, couple cyclists ahead with an oncoming car, so she waits for car to pass her, goes to pull over into oncoming lane to avoid hitting cyclists, only to have the wheel quickly steer her back into the cyclists. These two obviously missing the survival gene and riding two abreast, were almost taken out by my wife. She was visibly shaken when she got home and said if I couldn't figure out how to turn that shit off, the car was gone. Simple fix to disable that "feature" and she's back in love with the car. We are seriously dumbing down society so no one has to think about what they are doing, nor take it seriously and actually PAY attention when they're driving. [Rant off]
