Glad your family walked away. Only thing that matters. Trucks can be repaired or replaced.

I’m thinking there is going to be some significant frame damage, and it is likely totaled. But that’s just a seat-of-my pants guess, and I doubt you want a photo. o_O

Depending on your insurance carrier, and your specific policy, aftermarket may be all you’re entitled to. They’ll let you pay the difference in price for oe parts. A good body shop will fight tooth and nail to use oe across the board. Even taking a hit on their profit margin to price match aftermarket parts quotes. Will help to let the shop know upfront that you’re insisting on no aftermarket. And you’re absolutely right, aftermarket sheet metal and salvage yard chassis components wouldn’t do this truck justice.

^^^^^This^^^^^ Glad to hear you and your wife are not injured. If yours is totaled, there's another Tundra with your name on it out there somewhere.

I had to have my car repair after someone back into it. My policy and most do said they could substitute aftermarket parts of the same quality. My body shop called me and told me the insurance company was trying to use crap parts. I actually had to threaten them with going to court to get the car fixed properly.

Lol I was wondering what that was, I thought part of the dash popped off from the car and went through their windshield. Glad to hear you and family are doing well.

Alternatively if you’re hit by crap insurance you can pay your deductible and use your own insurance to repair your car. They’ll go after the at fault party’s policyholder for reimbursement.

Sucks big time Wes. Glad you and all are OK. I'd normally say fixable but with a closer look, when I see how much got blatantly and violently ripped off from that drivers side front.............I'd make sure it got totaled.

I certainly hope your joking !

That reminds me of a time about 20 years ago, I was involved my an extremely violent motorcycle crash that put me in a coma & a lifetime of pain...

a-lot of my so called 'riding buddies' of my local internet riding club, were lining up, trying to claim & get their filthy, nasty, disgusting, grubby hands on my 'good bike parts' before I had even recovered.

    some 'so called' ...friends huh?

Op....I'm Glad You & You're Wife walked away!

Glad you're both ok. I'm going to guess it's totaled. A guy under the influence hit my wife sitting still in her ES. Took the police 3 hours to respond. His airbags were already deployed when he hit her from hitting someone else earlier that day. The cops let him go and he hit someone else later that day. It's a fucked up mess out there.

My guess is that the frame is tweaked. The tire took a major hit and the force would have gone through the control arm and into the frame.

Hey Man, I hope you and the wife aren't to sore today. Remember it isn't always about the cost of the repair vs the value of the truck. Insurance also looks at what that truck can bring them if sold for parts. So if you really like the truck and you know a body shop you trust then don't dismiss the buyout if its totaled. It may be worth you taking the truck and cash then overseeing the repair process. Especially since it is almost paid off. It also llooks like you have some decent mods done and starting over with mods is fun by pricey.

I do appreciate the fact that it looks like your truck was so pissed off that it threw the fender flair at the other car!

So not that it's really up to me, what should I prefer happen? Best if it was totaled and just start over. Get the money from insurance and lost value to put down on a new one. Or have it repaired, to then just keep driving it, or go trade it in for a new one?

Before the wreck, it was valued at about 26-28k and I only owe about 12K left on it.

I don’t see that thing getting fixed. I’d plan on it being a TL and start browsing for your next Tundra.

Looks like the Tundra worked perfectly and kept you safe. In the end it's just a cage. Hope that it's totaled and you get a good payout, then buy another one.

Except this doesn't exist. Aftermarket parts are not equal in quality to OEM body parts.

That was my thought as well. Total would probably be easier to navigate than the loss in value for a trade in.
