    Hi Eric,

I have a dream...that is to own a bed rack that allows me to carry my snowboards on top of the truck with some sort of rack as well as have a tonneau cover (solid roll-up) over the bed to allow for dry storage in the bed.

Do you think it would be possible to make a rack that attaches in the stake hole pockets? Not sure right now if I just want a single rail or a full blown rack in there just yet.

Look into "soft toppers". You might be able to get one of those and get a reinforcement on it from a fab shop as well.

I'll have to do some investigation possible mounting.... can you share any pics of the way your tonneau mounts?

Looking at one of these as it would provide the better clearance for an overhead rack compared to a hard trifold cover. It would attach to the current rail mounts i believe and in turn move the rails a little. It is low profile so it doesn't sit up on the rails and would leave the stake hole pockets open. I havent bought one yet so if you have a better idea I am open to options.

I know you have been looking at this in all your spare time ;). Although the American dollar is crushing my hopes and dreams right now...

Not to take business from Eric, but have you looked into Diamondback covers? I absolutely love mine. It's not a roll-up, but they do have a number of different configurations and accessories depending on just how beefy you want, or what you intend to carry. If I need a temporary open section, I can just flip one part all the way over and strap it down or just remove it completely in a matter of seconds-

I have definitely stared at these, however they are a little pricey with shipping and brokerage, but it may balance out in the end.

Ya, they are definitely proud of them, but I think worth every dime. If you don't need the 1600# hauling capacity of the full HD version, they do have a lighter one that's rated for 400# which might alleviate some cost issues. The thing I like is that, since they're aluminum diamond plate, I could drill and mount about any type of rack I wanted on it, just so long as I didn't mess with the structural integrity.

I know it's the exact wrong time of year, but I bought mine on their spring sale and saved $250 (10%). Don't know if they do something similar in the fall, but maybe worth a call direct to see. Skipping the Line-X coating would have shaved another $400 off the price for me, which you could always have done locally later on if you wanted it.

It is totally possible and is exactly what I have done. I have a soft roll up tonneau cover and built this bed rack to haul extra camping gear with a canoe or kayaks for our family camping trips. For the complete step by step installation process I'll direct you to this thread on the Expedition Portal - Custom Rack
