I have a 2017 Tundra with an issue that I cannot understand why its happening. I have a plug and play powerStep (last model supported by plug and play).

The issue is that when everything is connected and power is sourced from the battery. I get a weird issue that when I move the power seats for the passenger (only powered seats SR5). It triggers the step as on (not drop the steps) but you hear the powerStep start activate as on and without dropping the steps. This also is the same with my led bar in the front of the car activates the motor (without dropping the steps). You hear the motor of the Amp research engage and stop.

Also not sure if this is related the check engine had always come up and would disapear after a flash of the computer. When you drive the car without obd connected for the powersteps nothing happens. As soon as it connects after a couple of miles over 30 miles of driving it lights up again. Had to replace the oxegen sensors and since disconnecting check engine light never came up again.

This was the issue with the first wiring cable that i have. So I ordered a new wiring loom from AMP research and could not resolve.

Has this been something anyone has gone through this...

Get rid of the plug n play harness and hard wire. Only takes 20-30 mins to wire up.

    Thanks for the response

I did try the hard wire also but still getting the sound of the of the steps turning on still happens with the LED Bar

I have driven the car for 200 miles (with plug and play) until now no check engine light comes on. The sound of the steps turning on without opening with LED is really getting on my nerves. Not sure why this comes on....

Maybe a bad question, but have you discussed this with Amp Research?
If so, what did they say?

Sounds like something else is grounding them and triggering the motors.
What other mods do you have that may have to do with the doors opening and closing that might interfere with the Amp steps?

Bed lights tied into the cargo light circuit?
    Aftermarket footwell lights?
ANY mods that you may have done at all?
Anything else ran off the OBD-II, aftermarket HU perhaps?

You've had this issue for over a month and never tried to call them after no response to emails?
    Unbelievable...

Installed them hardwired in my 2014 SR5.
No issues other than the provided LED lights suck balls.
I replaced them with aluminum LED bars...

    Well, one other issue;
The OEM wires needed to connect/hardwire the amp steps are so small that the posi-tap connectors did not make contact on the initial installation.
I had to go back into the kickplates and make sure contact was made.
If you try hardwiring again, the ONLY way I would wire them, make sure your wires are making a clean connection.

My wife loves them, the only reason I installed mine.
I never step on them getting in and out...
