I agree, and bottom line. The money/market is just not there. Toyota is not in the business to be broke and ask for handouts.

Titan XD diesels have been a flop in multiple ways....

    The numbers game.

    http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/the-real-numbers-behind-the-truck-wars-of-2017-1791882992

Then a tow test. How in the hell can you let the gas Titan beat the Cummins Powered Titan? Can someone answer me that?

    Then the fuel economy numbers.....

    Total fail.

Your key word is Cummins here.. they are NOT the best engine on the market to use.. it's more fanboy based than a engine with balls unless you rebuild it and piss other 6k into it plus.

If Nissan where to used the Navistar or even same engine in the gmc/Chevy (isuzu) they would have been better off.

In all honesty I think Toyota will be back tracking now and not going with the Cummins engine after Nissan failure rate to do slow sales and poor performance. Toyota would be better off with the old 5.7 powerplant but it's days are soon numbered.

I had the same experience with my diesel cummins powered trucks. Always working on those damn motors or the truck that was wrapped around it. It was so frustrating!!! (And expensive)

The package that the Tundra has is very good. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

    Vw knew about it..

Toyota wouldn't do it, if your trying to get into a market that's already heavy saturated.

I'm thinking diesel Tacos first. Taco not much different than the venerable Hilux.

And some want a diesel Tundra...lol. Good way to add 10k to a price tag.

When I heard the price of the XD titan in that video, I about crapped. $56000.00 for an underperforming 1/2 ton truck. That pricing is in 1 ton diesel territory that actually has an exhaust brake.

Jesus! That's only 6k off what Ford has a 2017 F350 King Ranch listed at.
