I've seen some others complain about volume here. I've got a new 2020 Limited edition with the 'premium audio' and the volume max's out at 65. Works 'ok' for music but when I'm listening to podcasts while driving I have to turn it to max just to be able to make out what the podcasters are saying and some of the podcasts I can't hear at all.

Anyone have the same issue? Why the heck does the volume not go up to 100?

Yes. I have the same sounds system. Turning the volume up for talking based audio such as podcasts, talk shows, or phone calls is annoying.

I have a 2020 Pro and the sound is 10x better than the JBL in my old '18 Limited.

Are you using CarPlay/Android Auto or Bluetooth?

One thing I noticed is that I have to turn the volume up on my phone first, and then I can set a reasonable volume in the truck (30 or so). I would have figured the truck would have taken over all volume levels but it doesn’t seem to do that.

Hmmmm, that's odd. While my music is louder than my podcasts and audiobooks, it's not enough to make a big difference.

my 2014 JBL has Very low XM volume. HS radio was Much louder and Amazon Music at best audio quality sounded better than a CD. weird stuff. Amazon at highest quality also sounded better than XM or HD radio.

Yes, the volume is way better in the 2020 compare to my 2016. As for the podcasts, news, streaming audio, those are all recorded with different set of volume output. Just like the commercials on your tv it's louder than the set volume of your programming.
