Also ordered a pop and lock this week and will be doing the auto down mod that @ncorry posted. Hopefully this should be a fun weekend!

I love my @dirtydeeds exhaust. Unfortunately she will be up for sale soon... moving to the @dirtydeeds TRD Replacement system!

 

Holy crap, what a process!!!! But this stuff has made my roof rack noise drop significantly! I’m very satisfied.

 

Pop and lock came today!

 

When are you planning on doing the long tubes?

 

Mechanic should be able to take everything off and cut the cats off next week. Then I gotta send the cats and flanges to @dirtydeeds to get molded into the mid pipes... truck will be down for a couple weeks, so I gotta figure out what to do there. Haha

 

You have something else to drive?

 

Nope.

I’m still trying to figure that out.

 

I had my rear cats cut off and a small pipe welded in their place temporary so I could still drive the truck and get my midpipes made from @dirtydeeds .

 

That’s actually not a bad idea. Probably be a cheaper option than a rental car for 2-3 weeks.

 

Indeed. 2 cats is all that's necessary for no cels. Also makes it slightly louder at higher rpm on stock exhaust. So you're doing the TRD replacement duals? I'd like to have went that route but my budget is small. LoL I'm getting a 12" single.

 

I have the 8” single right now, and I love it so far. But the GAINZ with the headers and full exhaust was just to hard to pass up!

 

I’ve been doing a couple of small things while waiting for my full exhaust to get done...

Painted the tow hooks red to match the sway bars and TRD inlay from the skid plate.



Painted the tail pipes black, because I see all sorts of nasty rust issues with the TRD tailpipes, so I painted them with VHT Flame Proof header paint.



Then installed the pop and lock, as well as the auto tailgate down mod. As you can see, the actuators are attached to the rods, and will pull on those rods after 3 clicks of the unlock button, dropping the tailgate. Thanks @ncorry for all the help!



And then, cut these cats off to send them off to get molded into the new Midpipes!

 

You doing 4 cats? Also I'that bed liner factory? I'm fixing to do mine myself and am curious on what all gets sprayed.

 

Yeah, I’m doing all 4 cats because we still have emissions we have to pass in my county, so didn’t want to run into an issue there.

Bedliner was not from the factory, I had it sprayed with Bullet Liner. It looks like it’s a pretty messy job.

 

Oh ok, ya definitely don't want to fail emissions. Alright. I know I need to keep the tailgate panel removable but wasn't sure if I needed to spray where it overlaps. Rear hooks too. I have dual swing cases to install and want to retain the hooks. I flipped them upward on my old truck.

 

I’m happy to take more detailed pics if you need them. They took the tailgate panel off, but you can see all sorts of overspray underneath the panel, so I don’t think it’s an issue if you get it in there. He did spray all the bolts and hooks though, but I think some people prefer not to have the bolts sprayed.

I didn’t really have a preference either way, but I can get you some more pics if you want.

 

Well, I think I'm going to tape up the hooks. I use mine often and I don't want the liner to peel up on them. The bolts I may spray that way where will nowhere water or anything can get underneath the liner.

Midpipes and TRD Replacement system delivered today!!! @dirtydeeds is a master! Can’t wait to get this installed.

 

You're doing headers too, right? My exhaust came in a few weeks ago. It's still in the boxes.

Which exhaust did you go with?

 

I already had the headers. did the midpipes with 1 cat. And I got a single out exhaust. I think it's 2-10" or 12" I actually don't remember.

 

So sick! How’s the performance of it?

 

LoL. Let me rephrase that. I already had the headers prior to getting the new exhaust. Headers been on a shelf over 2yrs. Only thing different right now is 1 less cat on each side. I have a bunch of projects .....
