A few days in to this my wife asked how the 'deal for Anthony' was going. I think we were around 7k at that point. She acted impressed and marvled at the 'Community', 'support', 'solidarity' all that stuff. Then we broke 10k. Mrs slinger: "ARE YOU F-ING SERIOUS?"

IMO what we have witnessed this week changes the forum forever. We all know now that when called up we will work together and find common ground to have the back of a fellow member. We also proved that in this world amazing, generous and proud people still exist. I’ve always said when I started TM that I just want to add to our community. Well it was you the cru that definitely added that.

 

My wife refers to my forum friends as "Imaginary internet friends."

Any time you can see an entire forum of "Imaginary internet friends" come together to support a cause it is really surreal. It was great to watch this happen, and I hope it helps this family in their time of need.

My wife and I are both advanced practice nurses by training, and have seen first hand what depression and mental illness can do to people. It is not a fair disease, and it also isn't a weakness. It is a struggle. Be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them, and that they matter to you. Be kind to everyone, even the guy who just cut you off in traffic! You never know what might be going on in their mind, and your kindness might just lift their day a little bit.

I've discussed this Cru with my wife in the past, her seeing my hats, t-shirts, slaps, and such.
I told her about the tragedy and that we were going to raise money for the family.
Kept her posted throughout the week, and she was more surprised with every update.
I just showed her the grand total and the spreadsheet with amounts, donations by state, etc.
She actually gasped when she saw the amount..

Good job everyone, I'm proud of each and every one of you.
Especially thank you to the guys that made this happen, I know it was a lot of work.
You guys rock..

I want to personally thank every single one of you for coming together and doing this for me. I was so taken back when the page first started and seeing the first few prizes being donated and the initial amount raised. It was so amazing to see people ive never met coming together to do something like this for my family. Needless to say this has come so much further than that first day and I can not even express how much gratitude my family and I have. Every single one of you holds a spot in my heart and we will forever be family. Once again you are all amazing people and this is so much more then a simple truck forum. We love you all for the bottom of our hearts.


On a lighter note, these prizes are amazing, I wish everyone could walk away with something but those of you who win will walk away with something great.

This is so true for my wife and me as well. @1lowlife recently sent us some really cool TM slaps (thank you 1LL) and we're looking for places to slap them where they'll be seen and questioned.

Anthony, my heart aches for you and your family. Please call on any one of us here if you need anything. We have TM brothers and sisters nearby in AZ that can provide help in a hurry.

We are but a simple, unfrozen caveman truck forum!

 

Many of us are fathers too so we ache with ya. I'm glad to have been a part of this...I've been on many forums over the years and I've never seen something like this on such scale. It's a testament to the brotherhood and camaraderie that exists here.

This is what Christmas is all about.

Or when I pass another Tundra on the road and give him a short horn tap or a quick bright flash or a wave, I hear “I dont get it. “
Or when the guy driving a first gen pulled next to me on sb 95 and I put my window down to compliment him and he did the same. I heard “I dont get it. “
Well I just showed her the final totals of dollar amounts and people involved and she started crying. Now she gets it.

I think there’s a ton of wives right now going, damn, this is amazing.

I know my wife is and she’s seen the greatness of a number of forum guys.

yup mine is one of them.

 

Not our first time pulling together a private group to help out a friend facing a struggle.

But certainly the first time we've done something anywhere near this scale. I think that this particular situation hit a chord with all of us on so many levels, we all felt the call to make it bigger than ever before.

 

Everyone here is just amazing. So glad I found this forum, I didn't realize this family was missing from my life but I can't imagine what I would be doing without all of you.

 

Welp, so much for what I said.

 

At a time when it seems like everyone is mad about something, it's good to see we can come together and possibly make a tragedy somewhat bearable. Anthony,you said you wished we all could win a prize....I think as a community we have. God bless all of you.

 

I understand 100%, more than most know. My wife is a nurse (cardiovascular/step-down/etc.) and also a CDCES (fancy term for certified diabetic educator - pretty hard cert to get).

Unfortunately I understand the other aspect (mental health) as well. Wife has dealt w/depression as well; and my brother hung himself in prison back in 2006. These things literally change(d) the way I relate to people and help out. I'm not saying I'll never screw up and be a jerk (lol) but when someone needs help or a brother/shoulder to lean on, it's just what we do...because we would want that done for us.

 

My wife didn't get it as much as she did until she started to drive my truck.

THEN she got her own 4Runner. I told her "you don't realize it but you're not just buying a vehicle...you're joining a community." At the time she rolled her eyes. Now? She's constantly asking me "Can we do this to MY 4Runner?"

 

Our family has been using Truck Gang, lol
