    The shift cable I’ve been procrastinating. Stretched. When I put it I. Park it did t fully engage the ramp on the lever. So it slid into reverse and moved back into the shop wall… it’s a fun mess

    It really does. Need the truck too. So my free funds are all gone and then some to get this fixed. Twisted the whole a pillar.

    but compared to losing a child, this is nothing. The least I can do is $20 once I get home. Metals fixable. Lives are not.

    Insurance not an option?

    Heads up though...a buddy's tire caught my open door and crinkled it. The body shop fixed it and insurance paid for it but Carfax had my truck down as "structurally damaged". I had to get Carfax documentation from the body shop that it was just a door issue but they still left a ding on my report.

    Years ago I was in a hurry, jumped out of the truck to grab something in the house, and then leave.
    I somehow forgot to put the truck in park...:eek2:
    The truck was the least of my problems..:rolleyes:

    I've done that stopping to get the garbage cans at the end of the road and forgetting to put it in park. Nothing worse than half out of the truck and it starts to take off on you and trying to scramble back in to stop it.

    Insurance would. But I’m not about to put more damage on its carfax. The truck was a rollover to start. But has avoided “structural damage” being tages on it. I also don’t want my premiums to go up. 10 years accident free. It’s got full coverage. But the cost of fixing this vs the overall cost of taking insurance payout will be far greater in the long run.

    Oh well.. I can finally have the cab corner that’s bent and was missed the first time fixed. And I may as well have them fix the core support and hood that’s out of whack from a previous accident since the hood has to be painted…. Again.

    CarFax has managed to find themselves in quite the position of "overreach" IMO... It's kinda jacked up that some online database can get bad intel, mileage, etc. off an oil change tech, body shop secretary, etc mis-stroking a keyboard... and then apply an inappropriate 'label' or condition to your vehicle that inappropriately de-values it. Sorry, but since I didn't sign up for your service, I did not waive my rights to have you report ethically and factually about my vehicle(s) especially when it can alter value and result in a loss of sale, etc...

    I only found out about what they did when I had a car lot's trade offer in my hand. I was shocked and asked to see the report. Was pretty fit to be tied afterwards.

    I did that once on the side of HWY 71 on the way to La Grange. Dude had a FJ80 for sale and I pulled into his field to take a look at it with my wife. My daughter and special needs brother-in-law were in the back of the truck. Wife and I get out to take a look and I hear my brother-in-law yelling "Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!" I turn around and see him and my daughter slowly heading towards the highway. Fortunately I left my door open, was able to catch up to the truck, jump in, and hit the brakes. My bro-in-law laughed about that one for a long time.
