I talked to about 23 customers waiting at service center, they all were complaining about the error messages "lane departure malfunction, cruise control off, accident mitigation malfunction, etc, traction off, etc" Yet the service department seem to have the same answer, i have not heard this complaint before. It is a recall, i visitef the dealership daily for 3 weeks early in the morning to tell them to fix my car, i'm not leaving till they fix my car. Eight months later, car still not fixed. I am suing toyota & talking with a lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright to initiae a class action lawsuit.

Toyota is buying mine back. Finalizing everything now. I think they are realizing that some of us have no fix in site. My dealership thinks mine is shorting out somewhere. Had it there one day for testing. Went from PCS unavailable to malfunction while connected to the computer. Never threw a code.

Went in for my recall today. They said they have to replace the sensor and it would take all day. They put me in a rental. I smell fish. I'm driving a Camry. I don't like Camry's, I like my Tundra.

Mine is going on July 8th for both recalls, I made the appointment 2 months ago. They told me they also had to keep it overnight and are giving me a car to drive.

Took my 2019 TRD PRO in for service and they asked me if I wanted to do the recall... I am running 295 70 18 Coopers so they required the paper to be signed which I did since if I put stock tires back on that is void. I think this whole fiasco will bite Toyota in the butt if someone files a lawsuit over this.
Anyway, my SA told me the system would default to off which is not the case. After the update the system defaults to medium setting, regards what sensitivity its set at.
Video below shows how it works now... Obviously it can be set differently but this must be the setting for lifted or larger tire Tundras.

Had the recall done on my last service visit at the beginning of the month. Since then, I've driven through heavy rain and haven't had the radar go offline like it would occasionally do before.

However, I now have had 4 separate phantom "BRAKE!" alerts, 2 on my way home from work today, which is significantly worse than before the recall was done. This is incredibly annoying.

Got the truck back just now. They said it took long because of calibration. I guess it makes sense. I wish I could trade TSS with a 17. My next Toyota will be used.

I noticed that my "PCS off" light was illuminated while I was driving around town yesterday. I dont recall turning it off, and dont think I have turned it off since I have owned the truck.

I went to the PCS setting and it said that it was on and showed my intensity setting was at low even though the orange "PCS off" light was on. From that screen it would not allow me to turn the system off.

About 5 minutes later I looked down and the PCS off light had gone away. I once again went to the PCS settings and this time it would let me turn the PCS off and on, as well as adjust the intensity.

This happened again today on my way to and from work.

Has anyone had this issue before. I'm debating on taking it to the dealership now or waiting u til my first oil change is due at 5000 miles. I'm currently at 2100 miles.

The summer sun will affect the sensor. Try not to park it in direct sun for long periods of time. After sitting it’ll go off and after a few minutes of driving it’ll come back on

My PCS malfunctions in various weather. There is a defect in the design, this the recall.

The recall is just so put a piece of foam on a vent behind the sensor to prevent moisture from getting in it. The manual states the PCS may disengage in adverse weather. That’s normal operation. The recall has nothing to do with a sensor that fails or malfunctions for no reason.

OP, I see you're in Ohio. Was it raining hard or storming at the time?

I had my 2019 in for the recall recently and the next day the same thing happened to me.
Mine will go off by itself also. Told the service tech and he didn't have an answer. I haven't
done anything since then. Mine seems to act up more with rain or washing.

Well I see this is prevalent on the 2019’s too. I just got my 2019 vudoo blue pro as my replacement for my 2018 tundra with PCS issues. Hopefully it’s not as bad.

Yes take it in to be looked at... also on a new truck you should do the first oil change early, your past the 1,000 I would of recommend to get all the metal out of the new engine. I’d say even at 2,500 it’s still better than 5,000... no way I’d run the oil that long in a new engine, let alone 10k is nuts

Hey I know there’s a couple of threads regarding this but couldn’t find a specific answer.

does disconnecting the battery to the truck reset the TSS/pre-collision system? My PCS is On but the “PCS OFF” light stays on the truck. Took it for a semi lengthy drive and light stayed on. I am hoping it’s because I disconnected the negative terminal on battery when installing my raptor style LEDs and it needs to be recalibrated? Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Will schedule an appointment with the dealer to look at. I did take off the grille/surround previously when installing the TRD Pro grill but TSS worked fine after.

    thanks!

Any 2020s with this issue? I’m at 1250 miles and my PCS off light came on when it’s supposedly on in the menu.

Changed to the TRD Pro grill a month ago and it was working fine but took the grille/surround off yesterday to install Leds. PCS off light comes on and is unavailable but the only thing I did was disconnecting the battery and removing bumper to install the leds ...

Dealership I just bought the truck from blames me for switching the grill and asks for $200 diagnostic fee and $1000 recalibration....hopefully I can find a solution.. this is going to be fun...

if you have the stock grill throw it on as quick test. perhaps when you removed the new grill something got bumped or the connector is not properly seated.

also make sure your bumper sensors are correctly installed and painting where they should since you had the bumper off.

Might need to adjust the sensor. The pro grill sensor is a couple inches lower than the platinum grill because of the lift height of the pro.

$1000 for a TSS recalibration? Are they joking? RUN away from that dealership and don't look back!

yea I’m trying that now. Messing with the angle of the sensor. Height can’t be adjusted as the sensor sits right in the sensor spot

I mentioned the bumper sensors because you said you removed the bumper. If I remember right, the sensors have to be unplugged to remove it.

I believe it all ties in together as the TSS system and not just the radar.

maybe another member is local to you and willing to let you swap your grill with his to help troubleshoot, or maybe you can score one on craigslist dirt cheap.

otherwise, remove the radar, clean between the grill and the radar, make sure if there were any shims installed between the radar and the mount that you have accounted for them, then double check your connectors for water intrusion in case it didnt fully seat during your install. (check both Male and female sides.) after double checking installation and moisture do a battery pull and hope for the best.

what sensor cover did you buy, oem or aftermarket?

good luck with this. hope is an easy fix without recalibrating the radar.
