Glad it turned out to be an easy fix.

    Annnnnd we're back......

Taking it to another shop on Monday. The first dealer I took it to was where I bought it at. I wanted to give them a chance to make it right. The dealer I'm going to tomorrow is the dealer that I plan on using for service since they are located closer to my home and work. Hopefully they will just bite the bullet and replace the sensor because if the window tint had anything to do with it, it wasn't the only problem.

I won’t say I told you so a couple posts ago. I’m still having random issues as well. They replaced my harness and sensor 3 times. I’m bringing mine in tomorrow for the message you just got plus “PCS off front camera unavailable”. I told them this is the 3rd and final time and to make sure the Toyota region guy is there.

No, I hear ya. It certainly sounded too good to be true regarding the first "fix". Does the dealership involve the regional Toyota tech or did you report it to them as well? As you know, this will their second attempt to fix it and I'm not keen on all of this wasted time and hassle over a brand new vehicle.

I called corporate to complain. So I can’t tell for sure if they would’ve been there if I didn’t.

2018 tundra.... having the same issues. Took to the dealer today who said I needed to bring back another day when they have more time. Something about they had to drive and recalibrate.

It’s getting ridiculous with all these “safety” things they are putting on vehicles. Lane departure warning, collision warning, etc....How about LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE. These vehicles are what’s wrong with this country these days. Remove all the warning labels off of things and let nature take its course, sometimes the gene pool needs dredged.

I hate the pre collision. It’s better now with acceleration override.

I once had to change lanes fast for a last minute left turn person in front of me. I changed over but the highlander thought I was going to hit it. It threw the brakes on fully till I stopped. Problem is that I was on a 2 lane highway with everyone doing 60mph at least. To have the highlander stop fully in traffic all of a sudden for no reason was dangerous. The guy behind me in the lane I switched to crapped his pants I think. My daughter started crying which sucked.

I'll be pissed if my Tundra ever does something like that. I've only owned it three weeks now but so far it's been innocuous.

We'd need less of this stuff if people would just leave their phones alone while driving.

Took my truck in for the 5000 mile service yesterday, ask them to take a look at the PCS radar. I have gotten the occasional false alarm, and one time, at about the 2000 mile mark, she went crazy and I got that "radar unavailable, clean sensor" message, even though the sensor was clean. The dealer said no codes were thrown and they couldn't figure out if anything was wrong. I'm not really upset because while my radar has had it's quirks, I haven't had nearly the amount of issues that some people here have. I did turn the sensitivity down as low as it goes, that seems to have helped a little maybe. The dealer said if it continues to happen definitely to bring it back it.

Have had mine 4 months now and have had the TSS “BRAKE” light come on about 5 times. One of those times it was because a bird flew right in front of the truck. The other times I have no idea why it came on.

With all of theses issues with the TSS has anybody here driven through a snow storm? Here in NC we do not get a lot of snow but we do travel to PA for family visits and the mountains during the winter time. Just curious if a freaking bird can cause my brakes to engage how the hell are we going to be able to drive during a snow or ice storm? Obviously there will be snow and ice covering these sensors???

    None. Keeping this one stock.
Replaced twice. Each time zero codes. Even with active error on dash.

Lovely. I guess all I can do is hope mine doesn't act up again or at least doesn't get worse.

Yeah mine never holds codes either. Even with the thing showing malfunction at the dealer, still no codes.

I've had to escalate my case to the regional Toyota tech. I'm waiting on a call back from them. The first call didn't go very well. When I asked what they could do to help me out since I've been wasting my time chasing this issue in a brand new truck, I was told that they can offer no compensation. They advised me they needed a couple of days to talk to the dealer and research my specific problem. I asked them to be sure to be ready to get a new sensor and that we will be talking about how to compensate me for this inconvenience on the next call. I'm hoping to get that call back today or tomorrow.

After I took my truck to the new dealer that I will be using for service, they asked me to log any sensor issues for a week. I went and sat with the service manager to tell him that I don't do research for free and I would appreciate a new sensor since they admitted to me that it's a common problem. He said he'd order the part and next time it happened to let him know and they would swap it out. Well the light came on the same day I picked it up from the new dealer. I emailed him a new picture of the sensor warning and he played it off so I escalated it to the regional Toyota Tech.

This is a bunch of run-around for a sensor that has been admittedly having problems. Leaving an even worse taste in my mouth so far.

That’s sucks that they are playing games. It’s aggravating enough. They replaced my third and last component of the pre collision system on Friday. The front camera. I’ve been through 3 sensors, harness and front camera. I hope it’s finally fixed.

I don’t really have much to add, except I got my 2018 on Mar 31. I had 2 times where the light on the dash came on indicating the PCS was off, but no error on the screen. Both at less than 2000 miles, both in rain, once in heavy rain. But I’ve been in rain since and no light. I went to the dealer and was told I had to come back with the light on and they hadn’t heard of any problems with the TSS. They also said to make sure it was clean, which it was.

Same exact shot mine tried pulling at 300 miles. I skipped bullshit and got regional involved immediately.

Did the regional people hook you up with any sort of compensation for your troubles?

I’m having the same issue, how did you get a hold of Regional?

I’m in Florida and the dealership I’m dealing with is blaming the lift for the malfunction and they are refusing to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I just used the 1-800 number that was on the website. They took my complaint and then "escalated" the matter to the regional team. A day later I got the call from the regional person. I now haven't heard anything back from them for 2 business days.

hey TommyBoy, have you had any luck getting it fixed? I was getting the pre collision malfunction message as well. When I took it to the dealership they told me that the lift was causing the malfunction. I escalted it to the regional office this morning and a few minutes ago I spoke the service manager at my dealership. He told me that even if they swapped out any of sensors that they wouldn’t work because they can’t calibrate it to a lifted truck.

Does that sound right? Does anybody know?

I just started having this issue on my 2018 just a week ago. Dealer asked if any mods were done. Only tint done was front sides to match back sides. Deliberately left windshield and rear alone due to radar sensor and defroster lines. They’re ordering a new radar sensor but they’re on backorder. Now I DO have a toll tag reader UNDER the rear view, but that couldn’t be the issue because I had that in there for 5 months with no issues with the PCS whatsoever. So the radar/ PCS seems to be a bad/ poor quality component.

That looks just like my dash readout. 2018 TSS bought in March. That alert came on. Stays on. Dealer looked it over, asked if I modified the truck. I didn’t, and so they’re ordering a new radar component. No ETA as it’s on backorder. Other threads seem to indicate a LONG wait. If that’s the case I want a way to turn that light off altogether. I just want to see the digital speedometer l, mileage and MPG info that it’s blocking. I’m sure there’s a thread in here on how to reset it that way. But I asked the dealer to tell me how to do that. Waiting for the tech to call. PCS wasn’t even a selling point for me. I want it fixed, but I do NOT want to stare at a yellow exclamation point for months on end until a part they obviously didn’t make enough of arrives.
