I'm not sure where this started to paint the bumper ends. Why have them look like an extension of the body baffles me. They are the bumpers and to me should look so.

Why not have it be chrome instead of black? Where did this trend start? Bumpers used to always be chrome.

The TRD Sport, TRD Pro, and the Platinum all have color matched bumpers from the factory, so I guess you could say it started with Toyota? The TRD Sport and Platinum even have the center of the bumper color matched. See below

To answer your question: It started when people had enough money for a vehicle to be tailored to their idea of beauty instead of being nothing but a means of conveyance from point A to point B.

Limited has the exact same suspension as the SR5 or any other trim. It comes with the same base level black shocks. With the TRD Offroad package it has the exact same suspension as any other trim with the Off-Road package. The only difference is the Bilstein shocks. Everything else is the same for all trim levels.
(The only one that is different than everything else is the Pro)

Exactly, so why is does the limited have 1000lbs less tow rating? We may never know.

I purchased one from a dealer and 4 weeks later he canceled on me. I went to CarVana and found 90% of the options I wanted, the color and only 4900 miles.

That is what I was afraid of happening with the truck that was in pre production and why I went with a dealer that was closer and had one in transit and due in very soon.
As I mentioned, used around here are selling for more than new. This is a crazy market which will bottom out eventually.

I ordered the color matched parts from Sparks Parts. They seemed to be the most recommended, a little pricey but hopefully worth it. I have a good friend who runs his own powder coat business so he’s working me in and giving me a deal, so the wheels should end up around $250. So that was the deciding factor from not going with aftermarket wheels right now.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the interior and the running boards. If you want to see anything in particular let me know. My only small complaint is I wish they would have pulled the dark leather all the way to the side. The light leather already shows dirt from getting in and out.

Nice looking. Our Escape has a light beige leather and it shows dirt orb stains too if you don’t stay after it.

They subtract the weight of options; for instance bed liner, 38gal fuel tank, electric seats, sun roof etc.... whatever the options might be. I have a hard time seeing 1000 pounds of additional weight on options though.

And that's for payload, so I can't see how tow rating is influenced that much either.

What does not make sense is the SR5 and the limited have a gross weight limit of 7200lbs.
If they subtracted the weight of the options @ the factory, it should still be based on the 9800lbs like the sr5 is.
unless they added in all available options for the limited and platinum, and based the math on worse scenario...
Regardless, it is the same vehicle with the same suspension.

Most trailers have around 10% tongue weight so if they add 100 lbs of options (seats, electronics, running boards, 20” wheels, etc) they have to pull 1,000 from the tow rating to avoid people going over payload from hitch weight - follow?

I’ll gladly pay not to have chrome. Just not my style. And thankfully we have options!

I am with you. IF your center bumper is black, makes no sense to color match the ends. Paint them black to match the center section like you did or leave them chrome. If you color match the the end, color match the center....like the TRD sport. I also see folks color match the ends but then do a black grill surround on a non-black truck. Does not look good IMO.

I understand that, but then why do the two trims have the same Gross weight for the truck? Does anyone’s sr5 say something other than 7200lbs? Is the combined gross is 16000lbs on both trims or does the sr5 have a 17000 lb combined weight?

People usually do this to match the rear bumper - vehicles equipped with BSM come with colored keyed rear bumper caps and a black middle but the front has chrome caps with the black middle…

Because the components limiting GVWR are all the same… same axles, coils, shocks, lugs, etc - one truck isn’t rated higher — one weighs less and is therefore comparatively able to haul / tow slightly more.

I believe the 2WD trucks have a GVWR of 7,100.

Due to the weather from the hurricane yesterday, the delivery window was moved back to Sept 7-9. Hopefully nothing changes and I’ll be able to pick it up by the end of next week. I’m a little (maybe more than a little) anxious for it to hit the lot.

My truck came with all the usual chrome, grill surround and bumpers. I color matched the grill surround (painted) and used Bumper Shellz to cover the chrome (BumperShellz Truck Bumper Covers - Ecoological - Truck Aftermarket Accessories). Still much to do before I call it done.
