I have the tow package w/cooler. Haven't heard 8.5 qts ever until now. My my oil changes always average 7 qts. Probably 8 qts with a full flush which I will never do. Not necessary IMO.

The only thing I did was drain at the pan and replace the filter... I wonder if they changed the cooler size. I put 7 in at first, ran, then checked and it barely touched the dipstick. So I went up by half a quart until I was at 8 finally.

It's crazy how much difference it is between oil changes here. Clearly the tow package will make a difference. Best opinion here on this would be from Jace. (What was you engine temp? Big diff if engine is cool or hot. Maybe a qt?)

If a company installed this, sounds like they would be buying some new engines for their customers.

I'm not sure of any company would install an aftermarket tune like this for you...

By the way, I meant when the dealer flashes your ecu with their own stock tunes, they hook the battery up to a charger. Just like you would when flashing a BD tune on your own.

I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but are you running 35's?

Does the bully dog adjust for what new gears would do? Iam feeling a lot of power loss and Rpms while shifting is off. Once I added my lift and 35"s

Well Sean, it's a good thing when you find someone you can trust, especially a Toyota Master Tech at that. I get mine done by a family owned oil and lube. They are very professional and good at what they do, also I'm able to talk and watch the tech, just in case he breaks out the impact. No No!

The bully dog tuner can change your shift points.... But, that's not what you need first.

    You need two things first:

    1. You need to reset your zero point calibration, ZPC. If you haven't of course.

    2. You need a hypertech speedometer calibrator. This will not only correct your speedometer with the larger tires, but it will correct your shift points.

Then... Look at a tuner for extra power, mph and so on.

Where does it register on the dipstick? I read all these posts about older 2nd gens only needing 7. Makes me think the oil cooler is larger now

Ya that's where 8 would put me to but to me that top dot is there for a reason. So that's why I put the other half in.

Yeah that makes sense. I just use the middle because it's where I've seen it every time the service department did the change.

@TruckyTruck I love my BD tuner didn't have the speedo recalibrator but don't need it now I had level kit and 34's with my tow tune I was bringing in about 16-18mpg hwy and roughly 12-14mpg city. I had an all performance tune and mpgs went down big time.

I do agree everyones truck will have there own sweet spot mine was fine with the performance but my shifting felt off so I put it back to my tow tune and it's running great!

Now the truck due to a costly repair bill is all stock now, and I'm getting great results still.

I have to agree with TruckyTruck if you do get a BD just make sure to follow the instructions and you'll be fine. I advise personally to always have a battery charger hooked up to your battery even if it's brand new just so you don't drain yours.

yep bank account is running low from it..

Why is my name in this?:boom:

My understanding is the Line has been added and it cant be taken out unless the ecm is totally reflashed or replaced ECM. It would be very very dangerous to flash just to remove a line of code. Without double checking checksums on both units its very risky and bricking will and can happen. I dont think the unit would have the entire firmware on the bullydog loaded into the unit. Tho with no password access flashing will be a mood point. Im so glad toyota is not stupid and give people access to the password on the ecm's like the big 3 do.

I've been getting this terrible itch to buy an old scout or something 4x4 to restore, fuel injected motor etc, basically an older vehicle made to run like something new and sell the tundra.... Really hoping this itch goes away. I just got my tundra just where I want it and now this! I love this truck and its the perfect combination of bad ass and family friendly. Maybe its a prelude to a midlife... :goingcrazy:

That Scout is nice, but if you really want one, go for the Scout II with the 345 (5.7L). They are out there.
